There is never going to be a beta or a release. Dave said that he wanted to announce beta but he said that some head guy wasn't in town. Well, that was almost a week ago, whats your excuse now?

What about the massivly multiplayer strategy game, Sovereignty, It was supposed to be made at around the same time planetside was. It doesn't exsist anymore, and it was owned by sony online.

No one has faith in the release date. If it comes out after Star Wars Galaxies then I will not buy it. I will be playing star wars galaxies. I know many many other people that feel the same way as me. The community will get a lot smaller if it comes out after star wars galaxies. And it will keep shrinking until it dissapears... vaporware.







Well.. not really, as SJ will make QUITE Clear... Hamma... can we start an official "We Love SJ" Petition and collection to send him flowers? He needs a hug dealing with the Sewage on the Official Forums

All right. We let a lot of these "When is Beta?" posts exist on the forums even though they're obviously duplicate topics that have been beaten to death...but we draw the line when the title of the topic is a direct attack on the company.
PlanetSide is not vaporware. Jeez. We release screenshots constantly, keep giving you info on details, and will be letting folks into test soon enough. We've even had squads of press folks playing in the game and we will have more of them next week. Don't you think they would have squawked already if they thought it was vaporware?

Mellooooooow. It's a *game* folks. It's *our* collective arses riding on whether the game is successful or not...not yours. Let us do our jobs and make this happen.

The wait WILL be worthwhile.

It's kinda weird how he keeps talking about how ps is vaporware and how hes gonna play SWG, but hasn't SWG been pushed back far more times RECENTLY than PS? I mean, overall, since the beginning, PS may have been pushed back more, but SWG just keeps rolling back. I honestly haven't seen the stop of pushback dates stop yet.

Sounds like, to me, that this kid isn't really serious. He's just trying to piss people off. Dave shoulda simply gotten a hold of the kid, told him that he is wrong and banned him from the site.

SWG was gonan be an RPG about the GAlactic Civil War I.E. that wa sits original name. I posted there HEAVILY under the name Billard.

Well, see there were two camps really, the PvP and the PvE. Guess who the Devs went with? The PvE crowd. Why? Cause the Lead Dev for SWG was on the UO team and feared that mess SOOO much, thta SWG:Galatic Civil War went from BADASS PvP in the SW Universe, with Imperials, Rebels and Hutts all vieing for control, into a a Nuetered CAreBear land with some MEANINGLESS fooking PvP areas that did nothing.. Hell they change dthe name to SWG: An Empire Divided... Is it just me.. or does that sound like a domestic dispute rather than a Civil war? A Good Vs. Evil epic adventour?

I am sorry to slam them so hard, but I am STILL bitter over that whole freaking fiasco... It was.. to say the least.. a serious let down when they did that... I still havent forgiven them.

I gotta go look up the new changes so I can laugh at the SWG Fanboys... the ones that no matter how altered the game became, still thought it was gonna be all that..

Using my elvish powers I looked into the future and I know exactly when beta will be here. Beta CDs will be sent out February 14th and the names will be anounced via email. CDs will arive February 17th-18th, closed Beta will last 4 weeks, March 17th open Beta will start. The final touches will be finished the week of March 17th-21st, game released March 24th or 25th. The devs have gone to great length to show us info about the game, jsut cuz they want to be careful about dates dosnt mean this project will fail. If anything, it shows that they are trying to get stuff done as fast as possible =)

as a side note though:
I must admit though there was a sweet online game that did become vaperware that no one thought was going to be... anyone remember Battletech 3025? The best Mechwarrior game ever? Project was cancled in the final beta stages lol.... that is why i dont like EA.... But the difference was that that game was alwayse on the line of being cut by EA, and there was no support for the fans, the devs were nonexistant, EA was cutting projects right and left, and there was not the organized community that ther is for this game.... etc, etc, etc... MUCH different than PS!! LONG LIVE PS!!!!

If they don't hit gold before more or less the 20th we can forget about Q1 release, i very much doubt they can start production and ship it out in 1 week.

Exactly what I've been saying. Here is my theory:

Friday Feb 14 beta emails sent out. CD's arrive on the Monday the 17th at the earliest. Closed beta until Friday March 7. That is 3 weeks. We then have the open beta CD's sent out. They arrive Monday the 10th. We then have open beta for 10 days or so. Then on Friday 21 the devs go gold. The next week the game goes into production, and is shipped on the last day of the Quarter: Monday, March 31'st. So we recieve it in April, but the game is technically still completed in the Q1.

In addition, during that week of production, beta goes on. If any major bugs are caught, a patch is released on opening day. Not unusual for a MMO. Beta ends Friday the 28'th, and the servers are reset and reopened the following week.

Heh, didn't se the things on SWG. So now no matter what I have 0% chance of buying SWG. Whatever they were thinking it was obivously from the same guy who liked Jar Jar Binks. BTW, next week we'll find out all characters will be Gungan and can't fight with anything but stupid balls and they never fighjt anyway as there is no PVP and the monsters aren't being released.
