The Tutorial isnt really a tutorial its like a full skirmish. Ill play that with the different races over and over.

Ork units are cheap, fast, but weak, Eldar units are expensive, fast, and strong, a fully buffed Seer Council (16 seers + commander) can take on three times their number in orks, without getting hurt. Haven't played the Space or Chaos marines much.

i might try this game, this will be the first time i've played a Games Workshop..er...game. :p
All i've done is paint them, its great fun. But i haven't painted ork, just didn't like them.
too much green, not enough detail stuff to paint.

Eldars are great, i love the Aspect warriors, the way they show one do a flying kung fu kick and knocks the ork across the field, and that space marine command beating the living daylight out of that demon and smashing down on its head as it lay on the ground for good measure.

And it all looks like using the gaming engine and not cinermaticially made for the trailer too, like Final Fantasy.

My favorite are the eldar they are like spartans, you can even buy this uber flame guy which takes 1000 out of each resource and has 9000 Health and like 400 Melee damage.

Im going to try Chaos next.

Some of the battle animations are great, an Eldar walker picked up an orc and squished it with its hands, and some of the Eldar council twirl and do flips and the uber flame guy impales people with the sword. Very very cool RTS.

Its either Ctrl or Alt, I forgot. Just press one of those and move the mouse around. Backspace resets the camera.

Its definatley a WC3 clone. The breaking morale thing is cool but once Morale is broken the AI just runs away and your guys chase that should be fixed.+

well it is closed beta. and I dont consider myself a fanboy, (sure I love the universe its set in but I never played the tabletops or anything) but I like it. out of all the games I've played recently I can honestly say this is one of hte ones I've enjoyed the most.

hopefully they'll fix up the rough edges before release. :)

Its about two months away from release, in the shape its in, it will be ready. Id gladly take the Warhammer 40k Universe over Planetside.

And i'll gladly take Command and Conquer Generals over both. At least CnC has replay value. I've played almost a dozen games in this beta, won all but one. Even with that, it's getting harder and harder to enjoy playing. At least w CnC i can play 700+ games and still want to play more.

One thing I think this game DOES have is the potential for REALLY good end-game battles.

If they can find a way to prevent rushes, and balance out the mid to late game powers of the empires, it might have the potential to be good.

As it is, 1v1 games are the only good games. 2v2's just involve rushing.

Are you retarded? No one plays as the laser general. Paladins are 100 times better than laser tanks, and those r the only things laser general has. Might as well play vanilla general and be able to use paladins and tomohawks.

People play US AF, US SW China Inf, China Nuke, GLA demo, GLA toxin, and GLA stealth.

7 out of 12 avaialable generals are used extensively, with china inf and GLA toxin being the 2 most used. Seems balanced to me.

Now, I can live with being called a retard for disagreeing with you, but I will reciprocate with insults, and that starts up the flame wars that led to the big problem. Oh, and do get on topic (dont know how we keep getting off it) I played some more today and finally lost. I decided to be nice and let the game keep going. Unfortunately i was playing Eldar and he pulled out this huge fucking demon. Nothing I had could stop it.

He sent it in practically alone, ripped through a heavily reinforced tower, 2 turrets (both anti tank), 3 full marine squads w 2 anti tank weapons each, 2 predator tanks, and 2 whirlwind artillery.

I gotta find a way to beat those things.

On topic: Wow, that demon must have been fucking invincible. I should definitely try out this game, it sounds fun. Tek, an idea for stopping those might be to force it's path into lanes of fire where you could destroy them with a concerted attack. I imagine that those demons would be very resource-intensive, and thus very difficult to replace. I'd also recommend that, when defending against those, you use your marines as bait to lead it into your lanes. Then, when the demon starts attscking your fixed emplacements, you attack with your marines and catch him in an uber crossfire. Or, if he sticks with attacking your marines, just keep leading him past your defenses and let them take it out.

Infernus, if you're talking about your anti-flame thread, it did work. Getting Tek to put his alleged obsessors on ignore, and vice versa, was a huge step towards solving the problem. I hoep that you understnad that I don't intend to moderate. But I am taking steps, just like you, to try to keep the boards I love free of flaming. Regardless of whether I am a moderator or not.

Orks are cool and all but I gotta have my Chaos Marines to play. I am sure there would be no other experience like using Nurglings, Thousand Sons, and a Greater Demon of Khorne.

Yes well, that was my idea too. I put out fulls squads of soldiers to put it into a kill zone. It ran right into the squads and did some force smash thing, sending all my soldiers flying like frisbees.

Ok, well i found out how to stop the damn thing.

1 terminator assault squad to hold it's attention.
2 regular marine squads each with 4 rocket launchers.
2-4 predator tanks with twin linked laser upgrades
2 terminator squads with flamers between the demon and your marine squads in case it breaks through the terminator assaults.
