Water Cooling Issues

I recently bought the Aquarius III external water cooling module from Thermaltake. I'm having trouble getting my tempature when doing anything serious, intensity-wise, to under 102 degrees F. Any suggestions? I even took a tray, covered the tubes with ice and an icepack, then threw some tinfoil over it.

Water temperature is actually above room tempature :doh:

You said nothing about that being overlocked... so why did you blow the money on a water cooled system?

My solution: buy a Vantec Stealth 120mm fan and a ThermalTake heatsink.

God only knows how much cheaper it'll be, and i'm running at 90-95 F.

The point is he already spent money on something that was likely $200+ ...but if you do buy a new fan and heatsink I'll take the water cooler off yer hands... I <3 you long time...

The thermaltake water cooling stuff isn't that good, it's just meant as a quiet alternative cooling system, nothing to majorly reduce your temps at all.

First thing to do is check your flow though, make sure you have a good water flow rate around the case and no sharp angles in the tubing.

If you want to get a heatsink, I wouldn't reccomend a thermaltake, they're pricey and not very good quality from what I've seen (says he with a xaser 2 case and thermaltake fans), best bet for air cooling is a Thermalright SLK series heatsink with a 120mm delta fan on a speed controller (cause otherwise they're freaking LOUD)

You won't get better air cooling.

Somehtign is just not working right, you need to check and make sure everything is installed correctly, reapply termal paste.

That water cooler should still be doing better than it is.

It's not a very strong contender in the watercooling game, it's just for quiet alternative cooling.

ThermalTake makes some very nice heatsinks. I've seen em best other heatsinks in MANY reviews. I'll be buying a ThermalTake PIPE 101 this fall, its a nice heatsink that blows away a lot of the competition (and its not as pricey as some of the other heatsinks I've seen put up against it.)

edit- The ThermalTake PIPE 101 is the same price as the ThermalRight heatsink you reccomended as well... and its essentially the same thing, but with 1 more heat pipe. :p

Agreed, Thermalright is the best. (dunno why i said thermaltake - i fuked up).

I have this (Thermalright Copper Heatsink for both Intel and AMD, Model "SLK948U" -RETAIL ) running in my PC with a Vantec Tornado toned down w a nexus controller. As I said, under peak pressure i don't break 100F.
