I hate to say it, Walmart man. I guess it depends on what you're using it for, but most of my work knives have come from there.

Butterfly knives, is where the blade is contained in a handle that you can flick open one part of the handle moves and moves the blade with it into an upright position. They are fun to fiddle around with but kinda dangerous.

I bought a 4' barbarian-styles sword from some shop in a neighboring city. The dealer loked like a strung-out Cobain.

And, I also use pointy implements form a kitchen.

First off it's a Balisong not a butterfly knife.

Only noobs call them Butterfly Knives...

If I was shopping I'd look here

http://www.balisongworld.com/

You can get one for around 20 bucks... but honestly spend some real money, at least 80 for the sake of ballance alone.

If you plan on carrying it on you make sure that it is legal. Believe it or not many items that people buy for 'fun' turn out to be illegal. When I was a prosecutor we had a bunch of cases where people were arrested for unknowingly carrying illegal shit like that.

<Ends annoying preaching advice>

both of mine are legal as far as I know. the Sword del Spainard is pretty dull now though. i wouldnt go around carrying a giant machete anyway.

When I go to Poland to visit family they have flee markets and theres always like 10 guys carrying knives. These knives are cheap and they're really good.

I got an 8 inch lockback and a 6 inch switchblade there. The switchblade cost me 10 USD!!!!! Its quality made too. The lockback was like 15. They're really sturdy anyways.

Plus in my basement I a katana, a tanto, and a wakizashi.

I had pics but my hosting went down :/.

My fav has to be Buck knives, or Brusletto (Norwiegen brand) I collect knives that are fun and interesting. Since I live in WV,the area is full of old train tracks so I got a railroad spike then had the blacksmith guy who claimed he could make a blade out of anything turn it into a nice knive. Picture a railroad spike, he twisted the part with the head, then sharpened it into a blade at the bottom, looks really nice, very heavy though. Those "Butterfly" ones are nice though, their just fun to play with, if you know what you're doing you can play around with people. First time I saw Blade II when he slapped that bald guy with one, my friends just all laughed hard and looked at me. Remember Mortal Kombat? The knife Kano had? Yeah, I got that as well. B-Day gift.

I dont think that qualifies as a knife. although I love the XM-8. I hope they really start producing it large scale for the Armed Forces. I wanna use it if/when I go in the Marines.

personaly i think it will, when the only other competetor is that gun from...i dont remember, but it uses something like a 6.08 round, and can convert any M16 into it, simply by removing the "top part" and replacing it with the new top part, ill find a link to a good article i read on it.
