I'm upgrading this week.

amd xp 2100 cpu.

EPoX EP-8RDA nForce2 Mainboard

Corsair 512MB DDR SDRAM PC3200 400Mhz

ENERMAX 430W EG465PVE (FMA) POWER SUPPLY

Snagged a heatsink/fan upgrade along with it all.

I've already got a gf4 ti 4400 and a sound blaster live sound card.

Think it'll run well / handle PS alright?

Get a faster processor. 2100 only runs at like 1.8 something ghz. Rest is fine.

2100+ is a good CPU, I have one. It's 1.73ghz by default. If you get the tbird core you could probably OC it to 2ghz pretty easily. :)

My thoughts on the issue of "running PS well": I'm waiting until after it comes out to see how it runs on certain hardware and then upgrading. You can't tell how it will run now, since it's not out yet. :) Besides, it's the only thing I need to upgrade for and so there's no rush to buy the parts now when they're more expensive than they will be when the game comes out. :)

Is that the board that's optimized for the 400? I know I got 333 because it's actually a little faster and more stable with my mb.

Nav the board you got can support 400 ram pretty well. Did you get the regular one or the deluxe? I ended up replacing my soyo one with that one.

I got the deluxe, but went with 333 because it performed about the same all over, and a little faster more than the 400, plus that percentage of stability was greater, and it's cheaper. Seemed like a win win situation. I get the board fri or sat, and I'm stoked. I printed off all 64 pages of manual, and I can't foresee any problems. How'd it go for you BZ?

Its all in the mail already.

I figure I'll get a faster processor when they're a little cheaper. xp2100 seemed the best speed vs cost currently.
especially with my $500 budget for the upgrade.
it all came to 469$ exactly.

Should have gotten a gig of CL2 333mhz corsair.. it's still the best RAM around. 400mhz isn't worth it, not yet.
