Okay. I recently had to reformat the hardrive on my computer due to some nasty spyware and now that it's all better, i was starting to install the programs and games onto it that were on it before.

I installed UT2004. It worked great.
I installed C&C Generals. Works great.
I installed Call of Duty. Works splediferously.
I installed Battlefield Vietnam... sonofabitch.

BF:V opens up, goes through the EA Games sequence, developer opener, and opening movie just fine. THEN i get to the main screen, and it'll go a few frames, then freeze, go a few more frams, freeze. It doesn't lock up or crash, it just freezes for a few seconds. THEN, i tried playing UT2004, and it did the same thing. It didn't do it before I installed BF:V.. So what the shit?

I checked to see if Windows needed updated. That didn't help. I tried reinstalling DirectX 9.0b. That didn't help either. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with DX9.0b, but I don't know what. It's really pissing me off. BF:V works fine on my other computer now that I got 2 gigs of RAM, but this computer hates the game. I want it to work, damnit so I can have people over to play over the LAN, but i can't. Pisses me off. Sonofawhore. Help.

The only advice I can give is too generic... curse microsoft and all of its crappyness...

Check to make sure your video driver is up to date - BF:V is fussy and demands the very latest driver.

I've had problems with BFv drivers, too. When I first installed, the multiplayer screen would just feed me somethin about how I didn't have the latest version... which kinda makes sense. So I find the latest patch of BFv and DirectX, and then MP works until I exit the game and try to go back to MP. WTF?

So then I tried keeping the install file in a different place so that I wouldn't have to locate it on the web, and then it started working. WTF?

Try movin' around install files for the two games and for DirectX, and play with it... ya never know what might work. Oh and and I don't have UT2004, so I can't tell if we have the same problem or not.

Hope that helps at least a lil. Good luck, man ;)
