AGN Friday

As everyone knows, our AGN dev interview is coming up this Friday @ 8:30EST. Our prep work is now in high gear and I have secured a beefy shoutcast server for the cast, it will be provided by our friends over at <a href="http://www.xgamer.net" target="_blank">XGamer</a>. This should ensure a stable cast and bring some of the load off our webserver.

Also, all are invited to <i>irc.planetside-universe.com</i> #AGN this allows you to get involved with the interview. Near the end, we may get to ask some questions from IRC. You will not want to miss that.

There are some ground rules however, any disruption of the channel during the cast and you could find yourself banned from the channel, or the server. So please try and keep things civil. All of the PSU staff will be on hand to insure a smooth process. The bot will be disabled throughout most of the cast. I ask that you not PM either myself, Marsman, or any of the Devs (if they decide to join the server) during the cast.

When the bot is enabled, there are the following commands in the channel:

!shoutout your shoutout here

We will not be taking requests during the cast, got enough on our plate. ;) Feel free to ask questions here.

I was going to ask the same thing. I can handle getting into a channel using mIRC, but how exactly do I hook up to this "shoutcast" that folks are talking about?

Hopefully Hamma will have an article today or tommorow on the front-page clearing this up.

I am not going to release the question list no, I mainly because the state it is in today may not be the state its in come tomorrrow night. I will tell you however that you wil not be dissapointed, myself and Marsman poured over the question list for 4 hours figuring out what questions from our list had already been answered. :) So, I doubt we will be hearing too much info we already know.

As for how to connect, all you need is winamp. Once we post the link here and in IRC all you have to do is click on it and it should open. If it does not, all you need to do is go into winamp and push "Ctrl-L" and paste in the link we provide. :)

My question,

What's the upper limit on listeners going to be? I have a feeling that anything less than a few hundred is going to get swamped.

We have taken extra steps to provide the greatest stability and capacity possible. Technically there should be no reason we can't handle up to several hundred listeners with the setup we have.

Yea we have a beefy server on a phat pipe, we also have the option to go to our backup server (the one we usually use)

So we should be able to support several hundred as Marsman mentioned.

And if AGN gets another broadcaster it has to be eMa, we need some female flava in the AGN guys! :p
