Things to know about Costa Rica.

There are poisonous snakes in the jungle that can chase you down.
Don't eat the plants because some are poisonous.
There are poisonous sea snakes in the water.
Beware of malaria.
There are sharks and stingrays.
There are some deadly types of bees.
Learn to surf because theres good surfing in some spots.

Have fun. Costa Rica is a nice place just be careful.

hell yea, costa rica is the shit. one of my all time favorite countries. you sohuld have a blast. granted its been almost ten years since ive been but still. tough it out and enjoy the scenery and the culture while you're down there.

oh and watch out for tarantulas they're the jumbo size down there. but if you like wildlife, the rest is amazing, lots of monkeys and colorful birds. simple beautiful. See if you can go on a tour or something in your spare time (if oyu have any) to see the volcanos and the ruins.

I have a friend down there right now who is doing something similar and is having a blast. She says that using the internet can get expensive, so prepare to lower your dosage of forum whoring and such.

She is loving every second of it so I am sure you will too. (although nearing the end of her trip, she is now starting to miss American food)

Wow Henya, that sounds like a great opportunity!! How did you get involved? You are going to have a blast (with or without malaria) and you'll have stories to tell forever!

sorry for the double post - but i ahve a really important question

did any of you (who have been) take pills for malaria - my mom got a prescription from the doctor but they are supposedly not supposed to be used if im going to be out in the sunlight because they lead to severe sunburns - i was just wondering if these pills really are that important - im staying in the san jose area but will visiting a gooddeal of the country

thanks in advance

I dont remember having to take pills. I'm sure if you're safe and don't run off playing crocidille hunter and stick your finger up every animals bum you should be fine. and bring bug spray. lots of bug spray.
