Lag!!!

The devs are screwing up the lag issue. I was fine a week ago. But i go play Diablo2 for a week and come back to find that everytime i move toward a base in sanc or on a cont the game lags to death. It will stop when i turn away beyond a certain angle or when im driving at a certain distance. IE it lags as i go close but then stops lagging until i drive or walk closer. Are they even aware of this happening, or am i the only one suddenly stricken with lag.

Actualy, it was even fine yesterday. Its just when i got on today!? Its still a problem right now even with all the settings on low. I had to stop playing because i cant take it anymore.

do a system defarg, scan for spyware and adware, and get new video card drivers. if that doesnt work, rub cheetah blood on your computer.

i jsut removed a bunch of it. all i ahve left is a small browser hijack that comes back i havent gotten rid of completely. 8) But that was before yesterday when it was fine. :(

Ill do the defrag though. i forgot to the other day.

I had the same issue and when i turned the graphics all the way up, its gets somewhat better.

I had the same thing with turning it up, But it only lasts for a minute. ITs horrible. I cant play now at all. They keep making hte lag worse with every patch. And i defragged and it only helped, or so i think, for a moment. Having anything around me fucks up the entire game. My fps goes down, then my ping goes nuts, and then my downstream goes up to 4-5k or more(now always in that order but close, depends on the circumstance.). Way more than it used to. I think i saw it above 6. Its out of control.

From my point of view at this moment the devs are lieing about everything they are doing. Tehy arent fixing it, or anything. i repeatedly see things they say they fix and no one saying it is, and me seeing it not fixed. And about everyother paranoid thing i could mention. Any one actualy seeing anything they say being done?

They have kinda fixed some stuff, but the main thing they tried caused more lag than it didn't and was removed.

The lag when approaching a base is the texture caching (among other things) and if you have less than 1gb RAM (like me) you're gonna end up with stuttering since Planetside's using virtual memory (or your hard disk pretending it's RAM). One of the aims in 2.8 was to reduce the amount of virtual memory usage and I have noticed that the first time you come up to a base it's actually improved. But it also seems that it stutters more often after wards. So it's like a trade off atm between faster at the beginning, and sparradic at the end.

Try out the test server and see if anything's improved in 2.9, they said they were continuing improvements.

Grab $150 somehow and ditch the celeron. I recomend this (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=19-116-152&depa=1). Anyhow most of thier fixes are for people who dont have 1 gig of ram. Figure if your experiencing those problems then theres someone whos got it 10 times worse and plays proportianatly less. Oh an no more pron, its infecting your computer.

Is pron an official term now. lol And i like surfing weird pron sites when im bored!I just cant stand that they cant fix ths stuff correctly. They can figure out how to add more options to the cull animations etc, but cant make an option for the pagefile shit. Its the main thing they focused on and they should have put in options for it for other system types instead of forcing everyone into one basket persay. Its pretty basic. It just pisses me off with the money you pay for this game and the money SOE has from everquest that they cant do anything or even be honest about teh game so people can prepare for it when they buy the game.

And i can technically afford a 3.2. Probly another gig of 2100(or 3200 since its 40 dollars now compared to 90 for 2100 last i checked :rolleyes: ). I need to go buy an anti-virus before i buy stuff online. ATM atleast.
