Yes it is. The G35 is a wonderful car to drive. It retains most of the performance and handling characteristics of the Nissan 350Z chassis while offering the smoother ride of a touring car. Very nice for a price substantiantially less than most equivalent cars.

finally someone I can agree with. I love the murcielago. I was privleged enough to even sit in one once. very few cars can live up to the 210+ mph 571 hp engine. especially for under 300k.

Till the head gasket blows and it costs three time as much as a american car. Sorry, I'm a Mechanic I've seen it before. Just so you know I tend to bash on Asian cars alot for several reasons.

A. sure there cheaper now till they charge you $45 bucks for a nut on the Wheel. I know I exagerated.

The Infiniti G35 coupe is no basic Asian car. in fact, I dont even consider it an Asian car because Infiniti is based mostly in the US, though their designs are of japanese origin.

Im not a fan of american cars. theyre years behind most of europe in terms of engineering. I prefer German, English, and Italian cars more then anything. btw Jake, the G35 is fairly reliable. it doesnt have any significant matienance or reliability problems as far as I know (I dont own one, so I cant say that for sure).

Infiniti is well known to be a very reliable brand. My neighbor has had an Infiniti for about 9 years and hasn't had any problems. Heck, and he doesn't even take very good care of the car in the first place, yet he's put around ~ 85,000 miles on it without any trouble.

 thats not exactly what I said. just look at a drivetrain from a Cadillac(or any american car), then look at one from a BMW. BMW has a much more advanced drivetrain then any american car.

this applies the most for exotics.
lets look at 2 different high proformance exotics.

The Ferrari 360 Modena, and the Dodge Viper SRT-10
The Viper SRT-10 has a 500hp, 8.1L engine, which is absolutely huge.

the Ferrari 360 Modena has one of the most advanced engine blocks in the world, assembled at a high tech plant in Maranello, italy. with the revolutionary tiptronic (Ferrari has another word for it, its very long, so Ill just use this one because its the industry standard) trasmission, which was invented by Ferrari, and a 390 hp, 3.9L (maybe 3.7, not sure) engine, its significantly smaller then the Viper, it can still outperform it on many levels. the Viper is little more then a giant engine on a chassis with a couple seats, and a frame. the Modena can outperform any american exotic, with the only exception being the Saleen S7, which sells for the price of a decent house.

Conclusion: American cars will always be behind the curve in terms of automotive technology.

They said that too during the 60's and 70's then carol Shelby kicked the shit out of every car with the GT40. Even made ferrari drop out of the competition. any way, The new GT40 is expected to be on par if not better with the high end european exotics. and besides that do you know how much a tune up on one of those ferraris cost? about 10 grand and on top of that it's suggested to be done every 3,000 miles.

Ferrari still dominates Formula 1 racing to this day. Ford got lucky with the development of the Gt40 and won the Le Mans in 1962 I believe, ending Ferrari's infinite winning streak. THe new Gt40 is actualy just simply the GT. the "40" comes from the height of the vehicle, but the new model is 43.2 inches high, so they just took the 40 part out of the name. and you need to be more specific on what you consider a "tune-up." you never need to upgrade a ferrari anyway, its pretty much pointless when you already have the best parts you can get for it. oil changes however, are very expensive, over $1,000 to do it, and you have to do it every 1,000 miles. Ferraris are very high matinence, theres no doubt about it, but I guess if you can afford one, it isnt really a problem anyway. THats why Im a fan of Aston Martin. even for the DB7, a 420 hp V12, you only need 1 oil change a year, which is less then a typical lexus or bmw.

great news for you....the Lotus Elise (along with other models) should be coming to the US in 2005. this is because 2004 is the final production year of the Lotus Esprit V8, the only lotus availible in the US, and its been basically the same model for the past 25 years. Ill expect the Elise to go for about $35,000.

Ford didnt buy it, the owner was asking too much and the GT wasnt really 40, so it was pointless to pursue it.

Also, the actual designers tend not to have much to do with the model names (thus why few concepts are released with the name they were concepted with).

True, but from a number of press releases from the North American International Auto Show since 2003 (when the model first debuted) Ford has said they decided to change the name to "GT" because it wasnt the same height as the original '65 model (40 inches).

Ah but poor hezzy will have to wait for a UK release... or pay for having one shiped to him...

Already out, pretty cheap for sports cars too, but most people will get a Vauxhall (Opel) VX220, because they are cheaper and practically identical. The thing is, cars are pretty expensive over here, unlike in the US where every other persons got a Mustang or a Firebird or whatever, sports cars aren't owned by most people here.

theres only 1 Vector in the world, and McLarens are impossible to come by. you cant beat the handling of the Enzo Ferrari, McLaren or not. besides, McLarens were only made in 1997, theyre outdated and extinct.

are you forgetting?

ITS FERRARI

When you say "performance", what do you mean?

Acceleration speed? (IE - 0-60 times)
Top speed?
Handling?
Overall balance of acceleration/speed/handling?

Either way, It depends on the driver as well, someone in a Lancia Delta HF Intergrale could easily thrash a Ferrari F40 in the right settings if he is a competant and skilled driver.

Either way, I hate the new Ferraris, The nicest Classic Ferrari has to be the Dino and the F40 is the nicest modern one.

I disagree. my favorite classic Ferraris (going back from the late 80s) are the early Testarossas, the Daytona, and the 250 GTO. the F40 is kinda recent, built in 1991 I believe, which was followed by the F50 in 1995, which was followed by the Enzo Ferrari (called the F60 as a concept car) in 2003.

and by performance I mean everything, the Enzo Ferrari beats everything at everything.

not true at all. the car is definately worth the money. in some cases for Ferraris that arent made anymore, they do cost alot more then their original price tag, but thats only due to their high demand. the 550 Barchetta originally sold for about $250,000, now they can go for about $350,000. vipers are overrated. all youre buying is a 500 hp 8.1 L engine wrapped in a fiber glass body. they have no innovation, they can be outperformed by a 390 hp 360 modena, and their engines are a joke.

^ Expanding on what Jet said about Ferraris, a huge part of a Ferrari's price tag is the cost of its engine. Not only do they cost tens of thousands to manufacture, their cost also reflects the tremendous amount of cash Ferrari pours into research and development of engines. Porsche is probably the only other company that approaches Ferrari in terms of sheer investment towards developing drive systems.

I just think it's the new design theme. You know most people like the older cars. whether is be Mustangs T-birds or the cobra. so take some of the older designs and stream line them. I liked how the T-bird looked. I like the new mustang. and the new Cobra. When designers come up with something new in a couple years. well then we will have new designs.

EDIT so you think european cars are so far advanced compared to american cars. Lets look at the GT40. Henry Ford I think one of his sons was CEO of Ford and wanted to buy out Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari told him to go to hell. And he said ok see you next year. they built the GT40 and won the championships for 3 straight years. Enzo Ferrari and Mercedas Benz both dropped out of the competiton. After proving his point Ford pulled the GT40 out of competition.

PS If you caught my previous edit I was thinking about Jack Rousch and the Mustangs. and the constant restrctions that were placed on them.
