This is kinda strange, keep in mind this shows the hi-end cards. PC Gamer, HardOCP and Id say you can have a good gaming experience even on a Geforce 4 MX, which PC Gamer showed screenshots of it running on a Geforce 4 MX, it didnt look too bad. Anyway, most of us can rest assured that your PC will play Doom 3 (people dont develop games to play on only $3,000 systems they develop it for as many people as possible). Here are the benchmarks

That's because Doom 3 is based on Open GL, a feature that most nVidia cards support extremely well. ATi cards are more DirectX oriented rather than oGL.

ATI 9800 Pro is $160 right now... better than anything you'll get Nvidia for that price. ;) I know, I blew $220 on the GeForce FX 5600. That card was such a stinker for the price, Nvidia has fallen out of my good graces for a few years at least.

nVidia has a definate black mark in my book because of how they cheated during benchmark tests recently. Thats not cool. Also, UncleDynamite was right, nVidia cards are more OpenGL compatible than ATI, but since OpenGL isn't used nearly as much as DirectX, I don't see it as much of a bonus. I'll stick with my Hercules 3D Prophet Radeon 9800 PRO for now, thanks.

Its just that the high end nvidia just edges over it by a few frames, Id has said all of the Ati cards are just as capable. The 800X will do Doom 3 justice and Doom 3 is going to own so.
