Well, as some of you may know, there is a TR soldeir named Ash. I know hes been playing for more than a year. He is what you would call Uber-good. For those of you who dont know, Ash is number one of all the TR on emerald. He has more than 10,000 kills and about 5x that many outfit points. He told me he is in his own one player outfit. He also said he "doesnt squad" so i couldnt be in his squad. So, i got a mossie after he did and followed him. He somehow saw someone from about 600 yds away, shot him with the mosquito, shot another, another, shot down a reaver that was afterburning away, then jetted off. I got killed instantly by a max. (I lagged out, my computer sucks) When i was dead i saw the kill tracker show him getting MORE kills, and noone could kill him.
I know that seems like nothing, but to be that good, and not die, be in your own outfit, all of those things scare me. I wouldnt like to fight him head to head. :scared:
This is the first time EVER i have seen him. surprising. He is still number one, and will remain number one. Post your awesome stories of meeting the legendary Ash.

Ash is just a normal guy. also, its 76000, not 10000, and it does not look like he likes people:

Not to dig on Ash as he is both a good solid player and a very cool guy. His posts on the OF are both well planned and intelligent. I respect the man.
However, having a huge kill count is not really a representation of skill IMHO. Its just a representation of someone who uses tactical mismatches to rake in hordes of mostly uncontested kills and who logs vast amounts of time playing the game.
On Emerald my VS character is an Air Calvary specialist who spends 99% of his time in either a Reaver or Mosquito averages about 180 kills every day I play that character (day = 6 straight gaming hours).
This totals out to be:
1,260 kills in a week
5,040 kills in a month and
60,480 kills in a year
This could be my results if I were persistent in the goal of achieving a massive kill count and I consider myself to be a slightly above average pilot. I can shoot down most pilots, but am not good enough to take down an ace level pilot. Im also very good at leading fast moving ground targets with my Reaver rockets. ATV vehicles are the only ones that I can not consistently hit with Reaver rockets. Everything else is going to eat most of my 16 shot magazine capacity when I fire.
My problem is that I get bored just Reaver spamming ground targets and chasing down infantry in my Mosquito. So I usually end up with my heavy grunt build fighting hand to hand on the ground. My kill count is far less impressive as kills are harder and encounters are less frequent, but I find it more challenging and more rewarding (read: FUN). So I suppose I lack the discipline to just kill wh0re every minute of every day that I play PlanetSide. However, some players are driven to achieve the kill count. Anyone so driven can achieve seemingly impressive results. The keys here are persistence and taking full advantage of tactical mismatches (such as air power vs. infantry) where you will tally up vast kill totals with little risk to yourself.
My record is 220 kills with 3 deaths while flying my reaver for about 7 hours straight.
So to our illustrious leader board heroes Ill quote Sean Connerys character in the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Im waiting to be impressed

as far as "Ace Pilot" goes, anyone can turret in a reaver, it doesn't take a genius.
and reaver is just too sluggish and slow for my style, I'm almost always in a skeet, until I get bored and then I find some zerg to grunt around in, by then I'm usually bored with PS and either sleep or watch tv :groovy:
and as for being "legendary", if playing the game 3+ hours everyday, using the easiest vehicle, doing the exact same thing for an entire year, well, I certainly couldn't do it
Ash is not really good, he just knows how to reaverspam lots of ground targets.

Ash doesnt use a reaver. Thats it. He flys a mosquito constantly and the one thing that I detest about the guy is that he is an above average kill stealer. He will wait for a reaver to get a vangaurd to almost no HP then swoop in, in a mossy and deliver the kill shot if the reaver over shoots as the van stops. He has a habit of cutting into your infantry afairs and cuts down the guy you just bumped heads with. Not saying hes not good. But he definatly seems to take the cheap way out alot.
Btw Desparado, Turreting in a reaver is the LAST thing to do in a "dog fight". My reaver can own any mossy any day.... except when I am drunk, or I am low on armor.

Definitely. Back when I played and before my computer started choking, I was quite accomplished with a reaver. I never liked the mossie much actually. It just seemed easier for me to take birds down with the two bigger cannons versus the one rapid fire cannon. Dunno tho, it's all about preference.

Haha aye, turreting is the way to dogfight in a reaver unless its against a lib.
Though yeah, a disturbing number of pilots follow the path of:
1) get hit once
2) immidiately afterburn in circles while getting shot by aircraft in center of circle
3) bail over water at 50%
