View Full Version : Concept Art

Remember that time when Skyguard and Liberator were released and we had concept art?

I think the Developers forgot how to draw, or forgot how to add an HTML image on a webpage so we could have a neat-oh picture of a BFR or a Phantasm (uncloaked please).

I'd post this on the Official Forums but I'm afraid of trolls. TROOOOOLLLS!!! There's... a troll in the basement. Just thought you'd all like to know. *faint*

Have a nice day.

I submitted this as a Ask the Devs question. So I hope it gets pick to be asked.

*WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE* :D

I submitted it too. Maybe that will give it a better chance of being asked, having more people ask that particular question.

Well considering we've not had full info on either it's a little early to be demanding concept art :)

Well there are screens of the BFR right? In the mag? And we've known about the Phantasm for a while.

Yeah, ok so it's too late for the BFRs, but we know why we haven't got concept art for them.

Phantasm we know about but still only know little bits and pieces.

what pisses me off is the fact that the devs have started this policy of hiding the new goodies from the community I'd personally like to know now rather than later if the patch with the BFRs and the patch with the phantasm will be worth while enough for me to renew my 13 dollar subscription that I could use to pay back peacemaker for that one wild night in my hotel room

Remember though, if they do that, and have to change stuff, people bitch like no tomorrow.

Well the phantasm hasn't been hidden, just suggested and until they have the details all worked out it's a bad idea releasing info.

Dude- BFRs are already designed and coded and whatever. How the fuck you think the magazine got pictures of them? That isn't exactly a chopshop/Photoshop hackjob using some anime freakshow bullshit.

I'd like to know what we're getting into, because we already know it takes four months for them to fix an oversight, even though patches get rolled back in seconds when the NC didn't get their one point of extra damage.

...the magazine got three still shots of the BFR's and you honestly believe they're already done and coded?

A still shot isn't exactly hard to get. It's just the outer frame, no movement, no weapons. To get that still shot, all that was needed to be done was the ******d apperance, not even movement is required. Physics, types of weapons, and such aren't needed to get a screenshot like the magazine did.

I'm assuming that's aimed at me.....

My point was twofold:
1)Until they give us more details then it's unlikely they'll give us concept art.
2)They haven't given use concept art on BFRs because it was being saved as a magazine exclusive.

Whether they give us concept art after they give out info I don't know, I'd prefer to see the actual models though (as concept art tends to look OTT anyway).

The Phantasm is in the newest patch on the test server - some guy on the OF looked in the coding and found info on it - the coding is complete, and they've made all the sounds etc, it's all in there, but for some reason it's not active.

I would find a link to the thread but I'm too lazy. And on holiday.

Info I remember on the Phantasm:
1-4 12mm chainguns
1 driver & 4 passengers

Probably because it's not meant to be there :)

that is because they said the physics isn't finished yet

So in other words what you're telling me is that YES, concept art is highly probable because they already have an outer image, hence the shell is already designed.

Thanks for helping me prove my point.

And no Lartnev- my comment was not "aimed" at you. It was a statement that was stating that it wasn't like the magazine made up some pictures out of a bunch of anime crap or something. Check your fire, soldier. You know what happens when you make assumptions.

You know what happens when you make assumptions.

Depends on how correct the assumption is :)

I just didn't see it having much relevance to any other post after your previous one, so I guessed it was something to do with what I'd said regarding why we hadn't had them yet. *shrug* Ambiguity is also a dangerous thing, as it results in assumption :)

Oh, I see your point now. I thought you meant that the BFR's were already done and coded and were ready for the servers. Sorry.
