View Full Version : Server Resets

After reading a lot of threads about CR5's not working together and how there is no overall strategy, I thought I would put forward a suggestion (And prepare to get flamed).

On some on Line games after a certain condition has been met (wether it be a target, ownage or something else) they reset the server and people start again buiding up there Characters/Nations whatever.

This allows people to try different strategies/Characters/races.

Pros

1) Gives people a goal to work towards, which helps develop strategies which may then affect tactics.
2) Cuts down on the CR5's as only those who really want to command will go for the CR again. A lot of people are going for CR5 now as they are already BR20 and want another goal to attain. This should cut down on the Command chat spamming.

Cons

1) You have to build up your character again. Yes this is a bit of a pain, but this adds another challenge in seeing how fast you can do it using different skill combos.
2) No history of achievements. This could be solved if you kept your merits after a reset. Then you build them up using different skill combos again.

I am sure people can think of a few more pros and cons.

Let me know what you think.

I might not quit but I certainly would be upset. Server resets create resentment twords the devs and also just piss people off. CR5's believe (Foolishly) that they have people's respect and taking that away would be not only bad but wrong they did put the time and effort in.

If anything add in some higher up CR and put global chat to lvl 7 (the last one) and have CR 6 1/2 the timers on everything but OS. HOnestly there are too many cr5's but reseting them isnt the answer.

They could add a CR level whenever the level of current Globals reaches a certain point moving the Globals to the new CR level.

or perhaps if you arent a squad leader/ taking a command type action for a long enough time and just spamming os, then your cep drains...

Many people have put a lot of time and effort to get CR5/BR20. Resetting the servers is not the best way to tackle the problem

Actually, I think your basic reasoning is flawed. Problems with CR5s not working together and strategic goals are not the fault of someone who is a CR5.

First, from what I've seen since I made CR5, mostly they work together to decide what is the best move to make next, and come to agreement before they announce it to the world. Sure there are always going to be a few who don't care (maybe they bought the account and didn't actually earn it), but in general cr5s do talk to each other and cooperate.

As to strategic goals, that is a problem of the game design. We have a few (cutting interlink benefits, or cavern locks, captiols, etc.) that have been put in the game, but they are more a benefit to a particular continent than they are globally. The only solution that can be made is from the devs, they need to design some global picture that we can follow in order to draft up meaningful strategic goals. Until then, we will continue to have the same game with no clear cut goals.

...Are these not relativly same ideas?

What do you mean exactly Gryph?

I think he means something like this: Say the number of cr5s outnumbered the cr4s, level 6 would be unlocked. If the cr6 outnumber the new cr5s, then a cr7 would be created. Yeknow, something like that.

Makes sense.

Relativly yes. Your version would be a static solution and a temporary fix until everyone reaches that next level. My version would make it dynamic and balance automatically according to current population stats. It is only one of the dozens of solutions.
