So i am at this National youth Leadership forum on Technology, and I am developing a healthy bit of laptop envy. U until now, i have put all my money into getting a good desktop, but now that i have it, I am looking for a laptop, so i can be mobile :p

I was wondering if any of you guys know any good places to find deals on laptops. I don't want to pay alot, if at all possible.

What I want is a decent cpu, 512 of ram, and a decent graphics card. Nothing amazing, just enough to play games like CoH (with all the graphics turned down of course) and a couple of other games.

Any help?

Ok, I went around pricing out what i want on all the standard laptop guys, like Dell, Compaq, HP, etc.

Here is the best deal i could find:

Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz (no hyper threading, but not really sure how much of a difference that makes, I'm normally an Athlon man.)
Windows XP Home
512 mb of DDR (doesn't say what speed, but i would guess its the slower stuff)
60 gig 5400rpm Hard Drive
DVD/CDRW combo drive
Built in 802.11 b/g wi-fi
15" screen
128mb ati radeon mobility 9600

And For all that I would pay: $1,324.00

Is this a good deal, or would I be getting ripped off if I bought this?

That doesn't look to bad. I would defintely ditch the XP home edition. Personally I'd go for some kind of AMD64 based laptop. Check stuff like computershopper also for deals.

I would suggest trying www.ibuypower.com or www.cyberpower.com. Try and stay away from widely known brand names, they tend to charge way too much just to put their name and logo on it.

I bought my desktop from www.polywell.com, instead of building it because they had great prices and saved me some time. Don't know much about their laptops, but you might want to give them a try first just to see. This one looks ok, I just glanced at it, but maybe this is something your looking for?: http://www.polywell.com/us/notebook/poly2500x.asp

Good luck.
