Well, today the Devs organised their video capture and Battle Islands. But damnit! I was thrown off of the PC before they updated the servers for Battle Islands. However, I can tell you all abouth the Video (from an NC POV).

I'm not normally NC, (normally TR) but I've wanted to try their MAXes out for a long time now, so when the chance came (ie. somehting to make me be bothered to go on the TS again) I jumped at it. When we got on, there were masses of players, but a lot of people lagged out because there were too many (I'll post screens later - on a different PC).

Anyway, in the NC sanc the Devs (ProfessorChaos & Sporkfire) kept appearing as their TR chars, which led to much "OMG WTF HOW CAN THEY DO THIS!11!!?!/?" Broadcast spam. Great. Then Spork decided to use the NC nubs (honest, so many were spamming "whats a zerg" or "lol i crashed my plane lolol") for a photoshoot, where we all stood on the HART Villa's steps. Bad idea. We ended up having 100s of people having bugs as their PC's refused to draw so many character models (mine included, and it's a pretty damn good PC) - so there was much detection collisson malfuction, which led to that idea being scrapped.

Next idea, everyone grab a vehicle and go to Ishundar! Easy, right? Wrong. The NC all got into their vehicles and were waiting on Spork and then as he said "off you go then" we all jetted off into the Warpgate and... huddled up in the Warp Column. Why? We didn't have a link to Ishundar! And at first, when we tried to do it old the fashioned way (Via Searhus) that didnt work either, as our link to there was broken. EVentually, whene evryone else but the NC was ready, the Searhus WG opened up (so did the other accesses we had, but I used Sear.). SO after a 5minute flight across Sear I was into the fight. Hooray!

Then came the Lag, and the many (LD) players. Erk. But other than that once everyone was ready (the Devs made the pop lock about twice it's norm I believe) we all had great fun. The target was Neiti, which the TR had to defend, whilst the NC attacked from the East and the VS from the West. The NC were given the base to the East and the one connected to it, and the VS already had a foothold.

The VS took Neiti's North tower straight away, but a parade of Vannies, Libes, Reavers and Gals all converged on it and we had it within 5 minutes. That was the easy part. Then Sprok started throwing orders around like "TR Get ready in the couryard, and NC I want you to get assembled to the North". This lasted about 20 mins whilst the TR took constant beatings. Then the actual fighting began and the NC started to get MAX Crash Teams up and ready (pics to come - mega MAX Zerg) in the tower. SPork got mucho footage of this and hopefully some of it will make it to the final ad.

We kept storming the BD (which may I say was very well defended, but no much for 50 NC MAXes!) and then the TR admirably countered it. One of the zergs was an uber failure, as no-one hacked the door so we were all sitting outside whilst TR picked up off. :(

One of the devs then called a cease fire and everyone piled in and started dancing around as the place turned into an xp fountain. (map = disco!) Also, the TR somehow had an AMS in the lobby (it's a Bio centre) (I think), more Devilry methinks.

As for the VS, I didn't really see much of them, but I know they got given an open air equipment terminal (which, may I add, was invisible) and that another Dev (damnit I can't remember his name) kept making Mags/ Gals/ Auroras for them! Other than that one mini zerg (or at least what I saw of it looked small for a zerg!).

So, apart from a dogey start, a good time for all.

Oh, and we all got medals! actor_bending_movie_award or somesuch.

:groovy:

If anyone here got to play Battle Islands please comment on them, as I really wanna know what they're like!

Test sucked for tr, we just spent the entire time getting the shit beat out us, packed in so tight that we couldn't shoot without getting grief or move without giving it. I won't even get in to how stupid some of those people are, suffice it to say that for a while there our own maxes trapped us in our spawn room. The devs wouldn't even let us take the tower when we had the chance. Having our entire poplock stuck inside one interlink facitility ended up being just too many troops for our own good.

Yeah the lag and the way we were all crammed in like sardines meant it was a grief fest, was kinda fun when I finally managed to get anchored by a doorway and was able to actually kill some Vanu :)

I was sorta disappointed that I didn't get to attend, but now that I hear about these stories I'm pretty happy I didn't as the lag, and dead links and shit would surely have killed my computer.
