Yeah well don't get ur hopes up that 256MB of ram is gonna be all that playable without major I/O lagging due to swapfile usage :/

They wouldn't lwoer the docuemnted specs then. Before., I'm sure that 256 MB of RAM would work but it would be really laggy and slow. NOw they just sped it up ALOT most likely. They may give the exact specs tonbight. I hope the info dump tonight is legendary

That's good news. I would like more people to get an opportunity to play, but I still think the starting minimum specs were a good place to start. I did enjoy this part though:
Don't worry. If you have a beefy system with lots of horsepower and RAM, we have ways to chew up those capabilities and make the game more beautiful for you.
Like I once told an Intel rep who was bragging about how powerful their new chip was (back when the Pentium was the new thing)..."You can't build a computer that the computer game industry can't bring to its knees."
We have graphics options galore for you to play with until you find the optimal settings for your system.

ChrisMOG, I don't really care what they make the specs, I doubt that it will be too high for my P4 2.53, 1 Gig of ram and GeForce 4 Ti4600. I just thought that other people might want to know before they go out and upgrade their system to play Planetside.

I'm upgrading in the summer to Athlon 2400+XP or higher. Radeon 9700. 1 Gig RAM. Unluckily, I'm jsut buying a stick of 512 MB of RAM for now.

My specs:
2.1 GHz Pentium IV
256 MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4600
I was hoping to get away with 256 RAM, but it looks like I am gonna hev to spend some cash and boost up to 512

I wonder exactly how much they managed to drop the specs? I was a little worried about the specs being so high, my processor is only about 500mhz over the minimum.

I hope they get the min specs down really low so that all my friends who don't have fast computers can play, heh.

Well, my one friend has a total piece of crap, that's what I mean by "really low." He said he was planning an upgrade soon, but it's currently at
500mhz CPU (not sure what kind)
Geforce2 64mb
384mb RAM
Windows 98 SE
So yeah, he definitely can't run it...most of my other friends probably won't play because they're RPG goonies who want Shadowbane, so I won't bother to ask them about their comps.

I'd say the minimum would be 800 now. Just an assumption.
