Ladies and Gentlemen of the United Kingdom, I ask you to bump the security for your beloved queen 'cause

TRIGGAR'S COMING TO ENGLAND!!

That's right folks, Christmas time 2K4, I will be holed up in Marks and Spencer under the pretense of visiting my best friend who is studying abroad. As of right now, I have absolutely no idea how I am going to afford this trip (what with PSU:MA, car insurance/registration/tires, rent, flight, et cetera), but dammit I'm the kinda girl who makes things happen.

Queen Elizabeth I'm comingggg!!!

I appoint Martyr as VP, oddfish as Secretary of the pr0n, SDM as the Secretary of Bukkaki Defense, and we'll hold open elections for the other posts.

Trig, during your stay be sure to visit the HMS belfast, and the covered courtyard mall behind it on the bank, where you can find a vendor who sells the utterly witty "mind the gap" themed clothing, most noteably a thong.

Also, if you are a gun nut be sure to check out the Imperial war museum proper and see the displays on the lower level starting with WW1. You wont want to miss the "trench experience". There is every single imaginable first and second world war firearm on display there. Plus several from vietnam, korea and the cold war.

I also highly recommend duxford for the land warfare hall, and to see all the planes. The land warfare hall has enfields and thompsons that you can hold. The only problem with duxford is access. You will need to either find someone to drive you nearly all the way to cambridgeshire, or hire a taxi, but thats really expensive.

I never went to the cabinet war rooms, but they might be worth checking out also.

The British Museum is ace as it's free entry (worth a donation though), mummies and everything :D

The Science Museum is kinda cool, often lots of hands on stuff you can look at or try out, especially if there's an exhibition on. The play area for kids is kinda cool too.

The Natural History Museum is just awesome.

Haven't been to HMS Belfast or the Imperial War Museum though :(

Derfud
2004-08-10, 03:49 PM
You should go, the Belfast has a charge, and when I was there today there was a british training ship alongside it that you could visit also.

The IWM proper has no charge however and is quite worth the trip.

The British Museum does kick hard-core arse.

I can't remember if the Victoria and Albert was worth a second look, though. Last time I went, there were Diana's dresses on display - totally sweet, but what will they have now?

Also, I'm thinking of taking Angelo (no relation to me) to the Tower of London for the simple reason that two people as fabulous as ourselves need some Crown Jewels in our lives  The only problem with that is, we'd have to pay what is it, 20 pounds to get in? Something retardedly expensive.

Harrod's is on our list, mainly so Angelo can show off his Dior sunglasses. Buckingham Palace - OBVIOUSLY. I've always wanted to do the Museum of the Moving Image but when I made an attempt to go, I found myself lost for about two hours - ended up visiting Shakespeare's Globe Theater instead.

I love England so hard.

Forgot about Madame Tussards. Very cool considering the lengths (teh pun!!11) they go through to get everything right. It's next door to the Planetarium but you'll probably want to give that a miss.

Haven't been on the London Eye either.... (massive ferris wheel basically which takes 30 minutes to go around once so you get some great views).

Madame Tussaud's is sweet, I've been to the one in London twice and the one in New York once - bring a good friend and a camera, hilarity will ensue!

The London Eye is something to do as well - I don't know if Angelo will have gone on it by the time I get there or not. I'll suggest it anyhow, it was worth the wait in that massive line! It's also right by the Aquarium which is actually pretty kick-ass, it was the first (and only) time I've ever got to pet a Manta Ray.

Thanks for the links, Lartnev!

Yeah, I did. The tour bus I was on got all the women to wave at them, then they waved back. He said something like "Alright ladies, lets give them a wave to show them how much you like them", then they did, some were whistling and stuff, then they waved back and he said "well, looks like they liked you too. Last year an australian women asked me if any of them were single. I told her she would need to go to the irish regiment if she was looking for that".

It doesnt sound that amazing, but with his witty london accent he had everyone cracking up"

No shit, im there!

There are marks and spark everywhere, dont worry about that. The London eye pwns, but dont go on it at sunset - i did, and its not as good as you imagine. During the day, you can see for absolutely miles!! And during the night, you can see all the lights in London, which is also great. But during sunset, its kinda a crappy mix of the two, and your view of the sunset is the same as from the ground.

The best thing about the Royal Albert and Victoria museum is that it's free, and it's a great little place to visit if the queue for madame tusauds is too big, while you wait for it to get smaller, since its right next to it.
