In case you PSU staffers(or anyone else) didn't know, SmokeJumper has confirmed he'll be releasing the dates for the betas tonight.

If you click the link it shows where SJ makes the announcement of his announcement (why he didn't just post the date there is BEYOND me) on the official forums. So it's doubtful that this is a hoax/joke...I wonder if he'll announce whether or not they'll do an open beta sometime before release tonight too?

Speaking of the shoutcast, anyone know about how long it'll take? I heard there's like 300 questions, and that seems like it'll drag on for a few hours to me.

We dont know how long it will last. But there are not 300 questions lol.

We have quite a beefy server prepared for this cast, I dont think it will crash - we also have a backup.

And it will be recorded for folks to listen in later as well.

I think they received 300 different questions, but have been forced to pick only certain one's that they will actually ask due to time constraints.

btw by beefy server I mean a dual xeon 2.8GHz w/1GB DDR ram on a huge pipe.

I also have our normal shoutcast server to fallback on.

The timing of the announcement is pure coincidence.

I intended to announce the beta date last week in the PSI chat...but couldn't get authorization. I finally received that authorization (buy-in from Marketing) today, so I'm announcing it today.

Since today is the AGN chat, I decided to announce it there out of pure kismet...and because it seemed a reasonable thing to do.

Don't worry...even if you don't listen to the chat, I daresay the announcement will be posted...oh...somewhere. :)
