If you have money to spend.... I reccomend a nVidia 6800 video card with a Athlon 64 3800+ or one of their even newer ones... FX I think it is...

I recommend AMD/ATi combo. It seems wo work quite well.

AMD - cheaper for same power
ATi- better, plain and simple in everything but OpenGL and DX9 vertex shaders absolutely are better on ATi(hl2)

I have a P41.7 and Ati 9600 right now, and I think I'm leaning twards an AMD (just for somthing different) and a 9800pro. I'm still undecided. I have a question though. Is there a point in getting a 64bit processor, when there are no 64bit programs? I mean, when a 64bit OS comes out, won't AMD have a new one that makes mine look stupid if I buy it now for no reason?

The only reason I'm upgrading is, My P4B motherboard still uses SDRAM. It won't even take DDR, and its only 4x AGP.

BTW, I hate every last one of you Mac voting mutherfuggers. I only made that option so Disconnecting wouldn't feel left out. You other fuckholes have no excuse.

I'm leaning again. This time I'm leaning tward a Soyo Dragon (nForce3 chipset) and AMD 64 3000+.

I bet those nVidia fukkers hard wired those chipsets to slow down ATi cards in the AGP slot so they get shitty benchmarks <_< >_>

DOn't go AMD unless you go 64bit, otherwise a P4c is the way to go the much higher Memory bandwidth you get with the P4c over the reg athlon makes a difference.

Yeah but you're just an Intel/NVIDIA fanboy.

I myself am going with AMD/ATI and a lot of people have recommended those companies to me.

There are cards out better then the ATI cards... sure... the X800 is good... but the 6800GT is right up to par with it... if not a little itsybit better...

I'm not saying ATI is the best company, nor AMD. He should just try to have a change.

Actually no I'm not... I know next to nothing about the large majority of nVidia cards... usually I'm red with lust for ATI... but for some reason the pure green ooze is drawing me over this time...

Octavian
2004-08-14, 09:32 PM
But green is so boring after a while. Red is cool and different. Go with ATI, it's all the rage these days.

nVidia has sucked since they raped 3dFX, They're starting to catch back up though.
Everyone is so close right now, I honestly don't think it matters what you buy. If you spend a butt-load of money, you'll be happy.

Go with it if you wish to continue buying NVIDIA products, but I recommend you try out ATI for a while.
