Hmmm... a good setup... /me thinks.
I would say 4 platoons of 60 Terran Republic soldiers armed with a variety of Flechette Rifles, Cyclers and Chainblades anchored by two squads per platoon of Mini-Chainguns as a heavy weapons squad.
Providing artillery support/armor would be a platoon of Prowlers and Lightnings.
The air defense would be served up hot with a nice combination of a squadron of an even mix of Mosquitos and Reavers.
Air defense would be handled by another squadron of Mosquitos flying CAP (Combat Air Patrol).
Getting the grunts to the fight would be a plethora of transport vehicles such as Galaxy and Deliverer dropships, Sunderer APCs and the accompanying Harrasers.
The eyes of the team would be the Basilisk scouts on the ground and the Air Wing aloft.
A yes, a grand vision indeed!

60 People Mani!!
Damn, that's a lot of them.
Me, I just want a MAX. Spit lot's of lead, rack up the body count. I've also been thinking a lot about becoming a tank driver. So that I could provide long range support for attacking troops.

Well, I am dreaming of course. I could just call in you, Hamma, Kai, and a few other buds and we will have the same affect. :D

I would probably want a cycler and a bolt driver with some light armor and a quad.

a army that large would be poerful, but think what 4-8 good snipers could do to it
*take out the scouts, easy as pie*
*Shoot down the sketers, have a few covering the troops*
*Shoot a few soilders*
*get cut down in a hail of fire from something heavy*
*respawn*
oh yea thats the ticket

Actually when I think about it, a Striker and a Cycler would be a nice combo. You have the cycler for close-medium range combat and then the Striker to blow stuff up!

I'm definately gonna be a sniper, and maybe something vehicle related, like a tank driver or mosquito piolt... cover some transports, maybe

Does anyone else gett the feeling there will be three *class's*?
1) Sniper with some light vehicle cert, like sketer or buggy
2) Guy in a max suit
3) Guy with a tank or reaver or some other heavy weapons toting ship
of course there will be others who do other set ups, but those seem pretty popular it seems, and of course the sniper is the best

There will also be the, sneak in and hack the building, guy.
I get the feeling hit will work something like this.
Support vehicles (tanks and aircraft) move in towards the base trying to be capture. (lots of vehicle pilots needed). The suport vehicles occupy enemy fire the best they can.
When they are getting close to the base, 2 or 3 fast ground troop-transport crafts make a run for the base. The transport is loaded with Heavies, and a couple of speedy agile hackers and a couple of medics. Everone gets out of the transports and then comes the big push and everyone storms the base. :D
All the while Moskitos have been flying around healing the tanks.
-So pilots(ground and air) will be incredibly useful (I think everyone will have some kind of piloting cert).
-Hacker/recon players will be necessary (this class is the one that is going to take the base and everone should be protecting and providing cover for)
-Heavy weaponed ground attack personell will always be needed.
-When you go forward to attack you always need Medics keeping you healthy.
-And a commander coordinating the whole assault will be invalulable. (don't sleep on the Commander type class)
In short I think there will be a ton of different types of useful classes.

Repeater (If I go Terran), Surpressor, Chainblade (I'm very likely going Terran), Infiltration Suit. Planning for the Commando/Special Forces bit, including hacking and that sort of thing.
As for what typical classes there will be, depends on how well the game is balanced. If the Punisher's anti-armor rockets are very good at what they do, hardly anyone will bother going pure anti-armor. If snipers are too strong, most people will go sniper for their anti-infantry needs. Etc etc.

Bolt driver, chainblade, pistol. Tipical sniper's setup. Find a nice vantage point, let the bolts fly. If I'm confronted, I'll either 1) If it's only 1 or 2 infantry, I'll fight them off with my close range weapons. 2) If it's more than a few infantry, or a vehicle, or a MAX, I run crying like a little girl, then come back with a squad of 20 or so friends, and pump the suckers full of lead, or plasma, or whatever there is.

1) Stealth suits can only carry pistols. No cloaked snipers. We have no word on the cargo capacity of the stealth bike... one way or the other. You might be able to pack in a weapon or two to use briefly, stow away, and move on.
2) Diviant: A SINGLE close-combat soldier will rip you to pieces in close quarters... assuming even remotely similar skill levels. Give the other guy a full auto rifle, shotgun or whatever, and you're toast.
On the other hand, I've seen at least one picture where the soldier had *2* rifles on their back. So you could easily be packing more than just the bolt driver.
Don't forget grenades and mines either. A genuine Evil Bastard could mine the area around himself... or perhaps some sensors and a deployable turret. That sort of thing.
And you should have a vehicle of some sort handy... even if it's just a light tank. That light tank should give a MAX or a couple lighter troops more trouble than they can handle (alone). If you run into a gunship, I'm still expecting you to die quickly, unless your ride IS a gunship and you can get in before the NME pumps you full of holes.
Outside a base, vehicles will be absolutely critical to the success of any operation. Inside... MAX time. But you can outrun and outmanuver a MAX in the lighter armors. Say run off and lead him back to your remote-det charge. ;)
As for my own loadout? Hmmm. I'm undecided. I'll probably end up using all 4 accounts to try out different things. A pilot (gunship), people mover (Galaxy, maybe an APC), a Sneaky Bastard (stealth suit, hacking), and a tanker (preferably the MBT of whichever empire I go with).
And I'd also like to try my hand at being a commander... who would cert on the mobile base.

Stealth suit can only have pistols? Well, the Agile exo-suit sounds promising too then :)

stealth suit has one pistal holder, i think you could wear one heavy weapon to though, so weres a rocket laucher might be off limits a sniper rifle carried is proably oks? or i could be wrong, but its not likly.

Finally found an article that mentions the pistol thing:
http://pc.ign.com/articles/135/135582p1.html
Way the heck down the page (about 4/5ths of the way) is a mention of the stealth suit:
"
Different armor weights help to round out your customizable experience, including talk of a special set of cloaking armor that will allow you and a tiny pistol to sneak behind enemy lines and cause havoc with computer systems, putting your unprotected life at risk, of course.
"
(emphasis added)
So there.
The original reference I remember (which I can't find now) mentioned being able to carry a knife as well. Whoohoo.
No info on grenades or "other equipment", one way or the other. I still want to be able to plant a bomb.

Stealth suit with a sniper rifle is a game imbalance of monumental proportions, and they're wise to have avoided it like the plague.
