View Full Version : What Would You Do....

Triggar
2004-08-18, 06:54 PM
What would you do if someone handed you $1,000,000 (or 548,314.66)? How would you spend it?

Me, I'd get one of these bad boys, fully loaded:

http://www.lancairusa.com/images/400-9436_1.jpg

Then I'd pay off my student loans, then I'd build a house, then I'd put one of these in my driveway:

http://www.cartervwsaab.com/graphics/touareg_01_popup.jpg

Then I'd, you know, give the rest to Martyr and probably get him a car or something :)

Ivan
2004-08-18, 07:01 PM
You know all martyr wants you to buy him is an over priced tranny hooker. ;) :p

EDIT: Well I'll pay off all bills I and a few other friends and family had, then start a company of some sort to make more money! :) You can always use more. :)

Well first I would buy severl of these badboys
http://boston.k12.ma.us/brighton/jun/aabreu/images\Viper%20GTS%201.jpg
(who didnt see that coming?)
After that I would get a nice house.
and buy like a VERY expensive pc.....

firecrackerNC

Buy a Firebird convertable. Buy a nice house. Go paintballing every week. Buy a super computer so I can play any game I want. Buy lots of guns, swords, and knives to start off my collection. Oh and lastly Id put my parents in nice lil retirement home on some far far far away island..........Surround by walls so they cant EVER leave.

Derfud
2004-08-18, 07:07 PM
I would buy a decked out computer for myself and each one of my friends. Re-do my garage and fill it with tables, get an uber connection and hold LAN parties every week. I would keep enough money to make sure I could upgrade video card, processor, mobo, and ram every year, and enough to pay for the connection for about 50 years, then spend the rest on an aid center in a 3rd world country.

Hate to burst your bubble Triggar, but you could not do all of that with a million. You might be able to get the house build, that's about it. Cost of contractors, permits, land, liability, labor and setting some aside for the unstoppable problem.

Lol, a house for 300k? That is going to be one craptastic house. May I ask what you want in your house? Rooms, Bathrooms, and more importantly where is this house going to be? Do you have to demolish a old house to make way? Two car garage? Pool? Out with the details.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to say that the government takes 75-125 k of that money, depending on what state you live in. Also, you would have to pay taxes on all that stuff. One million dollars isnt that great anymore.

Bighoss

Make a trust fund so I could use the money from that to help pay for basic expenses that would arrise when my adult life begins. College, Grad School, etc. Then I'd invest the rest in real estate. By far the best investment you can make and maybe safest. My family bought a house 8 years ago for 900,000. and sold it for 1.6mil 6 years later. Now we're doing the same thing again and lucked out and bought a house in an area where property values are sky rocketing.

Uh my house is 120k and isnt craptastic. Ive seen houses for 200k that are kickass. On another note just dont tell the goverment you have 1 mill. Spend it slowly and stuff.

Kam
2004-08-18, 08:52 PM
I assure you it depends entirely on where you build it and what you want in it. For instance, a posh suburban home in a suburb of Kansas City costs around 1.5 million to buy brand new. It would only cost about 700k to build that same house. That same house in Vegas would cost about 70k, merely because of property value. Many cab drivers in Vegas own homes of that stature and they didnt use a loan to get it.

EDIT:"Uh my house is 120k and isnt craptastic. Ive seen houses for 200k that are kickass. On another note just dont tell the goverment you have 1 mill. Spend it slowly and stuff."

It is always cheaper to buy a house that's already built. Building a house is completely different. Go ahead, don't tell them. Then when you spend the difference and they know you don't make that much a year or got a raise, you will be arrested.

Who the hell would want to live in a posh suburban neighborhood if you have $1,000,000 to spend? That's retarded. Give me 10,000 acres of land and build me a nice size home right in the middle of it. Nothing big and fancy. Maybe 3 to 4 bed rooms, 2 to 3 bath rooms, huge ass kitchen cause that's where it's all at, then a nice sized living room, and computer lab large enough for up to 10 computers. :)

I dont like Scions at all. Toyota only made it because they need a younger buyer, because the average toyota buyer is 45..

Ill take a '94 Supra twin turbo any day.

Theres a very good chance Ill be sticking with the toyota family throught my life.
Dad raised me to hate american cars, and I absoultly see why now. Ill buy a scion till I get married, then get a toyota family car, then when im rich and succesful ill buy a Lexus (all owned by toyota)

(Ok, so ill prolly divert a few times along the way, but thats nota bad plan for the moment)

Kansas City Sucks (Shawnee Mission born but I escaped at 4)

I would put the 1mil in an overseas trust to hide it from the Govt. that would keep me free from paying %48 or so in taxxes (Poor kids who think they'd only pay 100-150k in taxxes are funny!!!) And BTW 1 time gifts are tax free but only up to $20,000

Then I'd slowly invest in high yield investments... something to the tune of %10 return. Do that for 2 years or so, then set myself up a budget of 80k a year (that lives pretty comfortable in Colorado) Take the spare 40k or so and reinvest it so that I'm always growing.

Then I''d retire, find what I really want to do, be it writing, Art, Couch warming. And I'd do it.

And for the record. Most Millionaires:

Have never owned a suit that cost more then $200
Have Never had a house that cost more then $500k
Have never had a car that costs more then $20kk

Think about it.

And Trigger, where the hell did you go to College? That's alot in student loans...I hope you got at least a PHD with that much in Student loans.

My Wife went to a Private College, worked her way through, Then to Grad School at CSU and we only have 15k in Loans.

And Trigger, where the hell did you go to College?

Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, "the Harvard of the Skies". I come from a not-rich family, so the burden of paying for my education falls to me. I work for the school and pay for what I can, but I'm not rich either! A good $40K of my student debt is from flight costs alone. After I graduate, I'll be earning a decent penny as an Air Traffic Controller until my debt is paid and I can afford a massive paycut to be a pilot!

Pay off my mother's bills and my brother's bills, and then donate the rest to charity. I don't need it, that sort of money isn't what I am accustomed to, and it's more trouble than it's worth. Then there's taxes, then there's gold-digging fat-tittied sluts like Anna Nicole Smith that suck your cash up, don't suck your dick, and then suck your blood and make you die a premature death...

yeah. I'm set in life, all my bills are paid off, I am debt-free, I don't need it.

Have a nice day.

i dont think 500,000 could last a entire life, youd have to work at making it last you your whole life. you know, live real spartan like.

put it in the bank, get 10% interest, theres 50k a year, i could live off that EASY

Peacemaker

50k isnt much anymore. Now if that 50k was just to help out then it would be cool. And um... since when can you get 10% intrest and use it? You cant. There isnt any bank or service that will do that.

Firefly

50K a year is enough in many areas to support yourself and a family. I live in Metro Atlanta and I see it all the time. 50K down here is plenty of money.

The problem is with fucking idiots that spend more than they make or try living an extravagant lifestyle when they have a six-person family living on one income that makes 30K a year.

Harley's are becoming a rich, white, yuppy status symbol. For example, there was a lawyer that went through the motorcycle training course with me. He had just bought a harley and wanted to learn how to ride. He was rich. He was white. He was very yuppy.
