Not.

I just bought the logitech mx500 after reading dozens of reviews that said how wonderful it was, and that the only thing bad was one of the buttons in a bad place...then wtf is happening to mine? For no reason out of the blue the mouse cursor will suddenly change direction and go off on some random path for no reason at while I am using it, this is especially anoyying in games, as it totally fucks up whatever I am doing to the max.

Do any of you know how to solve this problem? Or if this is even a problem at all? or do optical mice just suck in general? This is was supposed to be awesome..but I find my old mouse with a ball looking pretty good after this bullshit. Someone help :(

Use a mousepad, if you are make sure that its on a flat surface, if it is then clean the mousepad and blow on the laser. Thats all I ever had to do to solve that problem. This should be in the tech fourms. Oh is that the wireless mouse? If it is your a dolt. Wireless =teh lose in games. Too many things that can go wrong. I have the mx 310. Great mouse. My infantry can twitch like no other in PS.

why did you buy an mx500? mx510 is a tiny bit pricier, looks better and performs better.

frag, because I got it for $5, is the mx 510 $7? No. It's not.

and like gun said, I think I have tracked (AHAHA  ) down the problem to the mousepad I was using, it was a dell one with really cool little cubes etched into it in a neat pattern that was completley fucking with the laser tracker...I switched to my old star trek mousepad of the old school variety and now it is fine, thanks anyways

I was about to say, if you got if for $5 there must have been something wrong with it. My mx500 works like a dream.

I have the MX 700 (wireless version, got it with the keyboard for about 60 bucks) and it pulls that BS sometimes. I just move the reciever to a dif place on the desk and that fixes it. Only happens about once a day.

EDIT: I used 409 on my pad and blew on my laser, and its working fine so far.

mx510 + teflon tape strips + icemat (glass mousemat) + teflon coating on the mat = slidey as shit :D
