INFO:

Battle of Trebia - You play as Carthage, against Rome, takes place in the winter

Tutorial - Basics of the game

Single player, about 330 MBs iirc.

IIRC, they threw the heads at the enemy to lower their morale. Historically I suppose, but I heard no one has seen them do it in-game.

Camera controlls make me mad. But it is fun.

There's multiple camera modes in the options somewhere, you might have to start the game to edit 'em, but they're there.

What's with all the decapped heads? Their weapons?

They cover 'em in quicklime, and throw them. So you're getting smacked by the decapitated heads of your former comrades, and being burned by acid, pretty much. It's a morale-killing weapon.

Medieval: Total War is quite good as well. I would suggest picking it up if you have extra cash. Otherwise, wait for Rome too.

What strategy is that? Build troops faster than your opponent and hurdle them blindlessy at your foe's base?
