Just to keep you guys updated:
Martyr and I are still in the early, early stages of planning.
Over dinner tonight, we formed what we think will probably be the end itinerary (albeit a very vague and "ideal" situation).
We're thinking of doing the same large, themed dinner on Friday, spending Saturday with Sony and having dinner with them, and then giving you guys the option of what you want to do with Sunday - either paintball (**no you cannot bring your own equipment**), the zoo, or just hanging out by the pool.
Of course, the usual disclaimer applies:
Don't quote me on any of this because nothing is set in stone yet and won't be for a little while still!
What do you think?
AztecWarrior

Don't set anything, yet. Recover financially from the mass spending at MA.
Additonally, I'm saying it again, we NEED a PayPal fund for this. We can't have them going bankrupt every year.

All signs point to "no".
Most people who came to Alpha were adults with full-time jobs. Getting Friday off is one thing, getting an entire week off is a different ballgame. Also, the cost for the event would be double or triple what it was for Alpha.

School is also a factor (at least, it was for me.) I missed two days of school (including two days of my college history class (which also included an exam.))
I'm hoping I won't be missing school next year, either. I get two weeks off in October, so I will definately be suggesting those days when the time comes to vote on when PSU:MB will happen. Either that, or during the summer before school starts. We shall see.

My brother was just in Japan for a month touring with a musical, 42nd Street. He and his group loved to go to eat at Korean BBQs. Where they served you raw meat of your choice and you have this little grill on the table where you and everyone else in your group cook your own meat the way you like it. He craves them now. I wish I would have went, his production company said they would have paid for the hotel room to stay with them but not the flight costs. :(

Thanks guys. And the better women are from mainland Japan, not from Okinawa (unfortunatly).
There's a nice little BBQ resturant down near Okinawa city that does that, and it's all you can eat too. I went there for lunch once, nice little place. But I've aquired a thing for curry. There's a nice curry place about 20 min from where I am that I go to about 3-4 times a month.

Hey guys, I just wanted to give you a brief update on where we stand at the moment as far as planning is concerned.
Martyr and I decided that we're going to increase security and the Christmas-morning feel of the Event, and only release the hotel information and itinerary with dates and times to the Event Admin. This means that you'll know what's involved in the package you're paying for, but those not attending the event won't know where we are and therefore can't gate crash. We'll release pertinent information to attendees after the registration process is complete. A confidentiality clause will also be included in the registration - a breach of which will result in a ban. A non-refundable one.
Nothing has been booked as of yet, but already we've heard people threaten to disrupt the peace and smoothness of the event. I don't think that's fair to the 40 people who paid their hard-earned money to come, do you?

Let me reiterate:
You will not be permitted to bring your own paintball gear.
Martyr and I should have a rough-draft of the weekend created by the end of this week, so we should be posting preliminary details by the weekend (depending on when we get back to Florida).
We decided that we'll post the details of the event - date, price, what we're doing - a week in advance. You'll then have a week to decide if it's something you want to do. A week later, we'll send out an email to the Admin, then the people from Alpha with the link to registration. The next day, CDL and SoV will get a different link for registration, then the day after that PSU will get their turn. After that, we'll open it up to the public - if there are any spots left.

The next day, CDL and SoV will get a different link for registration, then the day after that PSU will get their turn. After that, we'll open it up to the public - if there are any spots left.
yay!

We'll see.
On the list of places to investigate:
-San Diego zoo
-Paintball
-LAN
I'll keep you posted.
There'll also be an option to stay and hang out at the pool. Like we said earlier, you'll pay for a "basic package" that everyone has to get in order to come, then you can add some things on it. I'm not sure what we're going to make a part of the basic package - group events like Disney were a lot of fun, gave us a great opportunity to hang out and meet up and enjoy eachother's company, so the Zoo or something might be tacked into the basic - and what we're going to make a deployment.

btw Trig, I know in San Diego this NPPL team Dynasty has a clinic thing for paintball, I heard its alot of fun, plus I idolize some of their players. Its kind of like a course to get better at paintball, but its friendly to noobs and vets alike. Well, the reason that we were going to have registration early is so that I have time to get everything paid for and contracts mailed back and meetings completed, et cetera. Just having people signed on doesn't do me much good, but when I have a list of people and all the money that's going to come in, I can take care of everything when I have to, and have enough time to make changes as the need arises.
That's why the registration will be opened when it is, because I don't want a repeat headache from last year when I had six weeks to take care of everything. It's very stressful.

Oh yeah, if you didn't like the sharing-the-beds thing at PSUMA, don't come to Bravo. I think I'm going to make it a trademark of the Mobilizations! You get really close to other attendees. I like it.
Tomorrow we'll also be talking more about the optional deployment idea, and decide if we're going to keep it or if we'll make it like Alpha where we all do the same things. We'll see.

Triggar, there's lots of cool stuff to do in San Diego, I lived there for a few years back in the late 80's early 90's. San Diego has an excellent trolly system which runs throughout the entire city all the way down to the border of Mexico. It's an easy walk to Tijuania if those wishing to partake in spirits which might not be of legal age (in this country) can go to.
There's also Coronado island, and alot to do in the area... atleast if memory serves..
The San Diego Zoo is quite fantastic, along with the normal touristy attractions...

Oi! Don't give the punks any ideas!! Any underage drinkers at PSUMB will have a fun time explaining to their parents why they need $100 to change their plane tickets to come home early. You will be kicked out of the event if we suspect that you have been drinking and aren't legal.

Oh something else I forgot, usually the Navy base (32nd street Naval station) has a "visit ship" program. I can't remember if it's at the base or downtown San Diego these days, as there is a pier at the end of downtown S.D. for the ships to pull up to.
Essentially a ship is designated each week (or atleast was) which the general public can take a guided tour.

2nd teir: CDL/SoV ...If you diddnt pay up, or act correctly you would

Not only that, but we don't even think we'll have paintball on the agenda anymore. The general consensus has been that people liked the "everyone go to one place" thing. That's where we're leaning at the moment, but again, it's subject to change.

Personally, I dont like the zoo. Of course thats family experiences, I find it boring.
However, this is PSU, and I know it could be funny as hell.
Of course the same could be true for paintball. Meh, I dont care, paintball stings, zoo isnt exactly entralling, SOE needs to move their headquartes to san fran :p
Oh, and I need to find a job, my mom said she would front me the money If I had the means to pay it back, which atm I dont.

It would be a good idea to have the whole group together it would cut on the transportation costs.

Bio, it wouldn't affect travel costs. If we had options for Day 2, transportation would be included with the cost of the optional event.

We'll be meeting at Spork's house. Just don't tell him that.

btw whats the pop cap on PSUMB? I wanna know if Im gonna have to be there the second registrations open.
Ah, and seeing as this thread is insanely long, I may have missed it, do we need 100% of the cash to register? Or can we get that to you in increments?

- You have to pay the full amount for the event at the time of registration. No deposit/balance deal like for Alpha - that caused too many headaches for me. Don't ask me how much the event will cost. I will make it perfectly clear when we figure it out :)
- Jet, the "pop cap" is 40 people, including Martyr, me, Hamma, Jen, Mars, Mani, etc.

Ahh crap the full cost at registration?!?! Dont you think its a good idea to let them know a moth or 2 ahead of time before you open up registration, cause I look on the forums one day and it sais "Register now cost is 500$" I know i wount be able to pay that that day cause i didnt know how much it was going to be.

I just want to stress once more that things are still at the "blank slate" stage. We've got rough drafts and ideas of what we'd like to see happen, but nothing is set in stone.
I'm sure we can give one month's notice between announcing the cost of the event and the registration. I'm hesitant to give any more than one month due to the fact that without money, I can't get any work done. And that means more crunch time for me. Which is ugly.
EDIT: My advice is to start saving money now. The price of the event will not be any LESS than $350, and it shouldn't be more than $500. This is our way of making sure you're serious about coming, and it's going to save us a lot of trouble.

jet, as hamma pointed out, he founded this community to escape from the elitism of the OF community - it only makes sense to follow his direction.
also, i doubt too many of the OF folks are going to be willing to put all the money up immediately, which improves the average PSU'ers chances. that, and you get all this forewarning; you should be fine.

Not for us. The fee to attend Mobilization Bravo is non-refundable. Otherwise, the money would come out of my own pocket, and I'm a 22-year-old college student. Not going to happen. Take it or leave it.

Which is my point. Mani was sure he could go, but then work acted gay on him, forceing him to cancel. He lost his deposit, but diddnt pay the bulk 260 or whatever it was.
Therefore, with the entire fee upfront, if something shitty like that happens, with circumstances beyond someones control, thats going to be damn shitty if someone gets caught in that situation.

I'm a certified Dive Master with NAUI and I hold PADI certifications as well. I'm currently an assistant instructor, and training to be a fully-qualified instructor. I can help knock that rate down for anyone who wants to go diving (you must be Open-Water certified, I'm not training anyone).

And Gohan, yeah that does suck if someone has to cancel. But what would suck more is if I've already paid for everything, then someone cancels and wants their money back, but I've already paid for everything, so I'd have to give them their refund out of my own pocket.
Absolutely not going to happen.

Ladies and Gentleweirdos of the PSU community, it is with great pride that I announce the date of Planetside Universe Mobilization Bravo.
PSU:MB will be held from Friday July 15th, 2005 to Monday July 18th, 2005.
Mark your calendars, get the weekend off work, you've been warned.

I want to calm everyone here who is all excited about PSU:MB - obviously it is going to happen on the dates we stated. However it is still in the planning stages this time around imo things will have to be slightly different.
Personally, I would like to lower the registration fee as low as possible. This is going to take some time and planning before we go forward. IMO - registration for the event will NOT begin until sometime around the first part of 2005 for a ton of different reasons.
Last but not least I started this site becuase I wanted everyone to be as equal as possible, the original community I came from would shit on anyone who was new and label them as someone who didnt know jack shit. I wil do everything in my power to be sure that never happens here.
Anyway, everyone just chill - its still a ways off.
