And on that note.

Ladies and Gentleweirdos of the PSU community, it is with great pride that I announce the date of Planetside Universe Mobilization Bravo.

PSU:MB will be held from Friday July 15th, 2005 to Monday July 18th, 2005.

Mark your calendars, get the weekend off work, you've been warned.

Thanks very much! Now I don't have to worry about school and such, as I doubt *anyone* will be in school during those days anyway.

Thanks again Hamma. I was beginning to get a bit worried there with the "caste" system and all. Keeping the registration fee out of the clouds and back down to Earth means a lot to us as well. Keeping it high "to keep out the riff-raff" is just not what I understood this site stood for.

We're all equal "riff-raff" here.

Triggar
2004-09-21, 07:12 PM
I'm doing my best to keep the registration fee as cheap as possible - remember, Martyr and I have to pay our own way as well. We're not rich people, let me save you the suspense.

It's looking to be in the same ballpark as Alpha, but I know if I say anything I'll get quoted come registration time by a bunch of angry people - "BUT YOU SAID..." - so, I won't say anything except, start saving with the prediction that the event will cost between $350 and $500 a person.

I gotta buy a car, pay for insurance, and build a new computer all before PSU:MB. I am gonna need some assistance with the rents. I'm not about to break out the dough in my savings account, i've worked too hard on that :p

Question: does a room for 3 days split 6-7 ways, a ticket to the zoo, and a day hosted by SOE really cost 500 bucks? O_O

before anybody gets too excited, there are NO guarantees as far as a bravo merit is concerned.

as i understand it, they're giving us a merit because this is the first-ever event of its kind.

That's what I thought, and I think that's better in a way. Although I didn't even go and won't get one. It was the first of its kind and should be remembered. If they start adding merits for each one then they lose their uniqueness.

i don't agree with that for two reasons:

first: in the military do they just stop giving you merits because you saved lives more than one time? no, you get another silver star or something. i mean, hell, look at John Kerry, he got a purple heart each time he stubbed his toe or got a paper cut.

second: i want one :(

I said to expect it to cost in the ballpark of $350 to $500 to err on the side of caution. If the event ends up being $400 and I hadn't ever said anything, people would bitch.

And yeah Gohan, there's a lotttt more to the event than just hotel and the zoo. Remember the cost breakdown from Alpha? What did you get for $350 - hotel, Medieval Times, Disney, Universal, Hard Rock Cafe, bus transportation, and a gift box. There's a lot to these events. I am doing my best to keep the cost down as much as possible but California is more expensive a place than Orlando, that's just something we're going to have to deal with.

My reasoning being the lack of the two theme parks. Just trying to figure out how it could cost more then orlando when one day is hosted by soe (they arnt charging us are they? :p) and there wont be 2 60 dollar theme park tickets.

Triggar
2004-09-22, 03:47 PM
Yeah but the hotel rooms are smaller and more expensive - bigger cost divided by less people. Transportation is more expensive. The dinners will still be expensive.

I'm working on it. Have faith, Matawan.

but would be an experience I guess...and oil tankers are fecking huge too so....

Ivan
2004-10-27, 05:20 PM
I find the whole oil tanker thing hard to swallow, and ask SDM, I can swallow... ;)

There would be major Insurance problems. Insurance companies wouldn't cover that tanker company if they found out they were doing that. And Insurance companies are like the NSA; they know all and see all!

Baneblade
2004-10-27, 05:28 PM
It is no more an insurance risk than it is on a cruise ship, which is extremely easy to get on if you have the money.

You can even get a temp voyage job as a deckhand for the Merchant Marines. It's really not as off the wall as many would have you think.

It's a lot easier to jump off of an oil ship than it is a cruise ship without being noticed. And then the company would be "responsible" for your suicide... bleh. I know what I mean, but I'm too tired to post.

Sorry to bump this thread, but this is important.

I have good and bad news.

Good news: MIT has invited me to apply for a summer program. If accepted (I don't know how many other people have applied) then I will most certainly go, as it is free.

Bad news: Program session: June 22- August 6, 2005.

PSU:MB dates: July 15-18, 2005.

So, if I get accepted, I'm going- sorry, PSU, but I have to have priorities.

Agreed long before any of you posted: besides, the chances of me getting in are slim.

6 people were accepted last year from FL.

It's a program for teens who are disadvantaged due to race and monetary background: I can tell you that being Hispanic is not a genetic disorder causing a disadvantage, and I am well-heeled. So I may not get in, and I'll see you all at MB.
