/me enters attention-whore mode
Whew. I've been spending the past few days packing and getting ready for the big move to college. It sucks having to loaf around the house as your friends start parting ways, but getting into the thick of college will solve that I'm sure (besides, I'll be seeing all my old friends soon enough). Anyway, I'll be attending Claremont McKenna in Claremont CA (oh so close to San Diego!), so if you find yourself around the area, feel free to stalk me. And if any of you high-school seniors are interested in said college, ask me and I'll tell you what it's like. I'm leaving tomorrow morning, and orientation lasts until the 31st. So probably won't be online until then, but we'll see.
Let the good times roll :drunk:
I don't remember college. :drunk:
My advice: Enjoy yourself, but not too much. Know when it's time to play, and when it's not. Have expiramental sex, as much as possible. College girls can be talked into damn near anything. (just add beer)

My advice, do the exact opposite of the underlined portions. : D

My advice, get drunk (or what ever method you use to get wasted) then think about what the hell you're doing. College? Deep inside you'll notice (when you're wasted) that you do NOT want to do this. Instead you'll think of something else to do with your life.

Aw, it's like a PSU Advice Column! Much
I'm a big partier, and so is everyone else at Claremont, so that's cool for me. But my parents are shelling out big bucks to send me to a top-notch private school, so that means I might do some studying once... a month... maybe. But I don't drink and I don't plan on drinking, so sorry, no drunken tales from me. I might have some tales of other drunken people, so we'll see.
Anyway, we need to seriously think about a PSU Advice Column. Think how many people we can mislead.

Ok, drop the wasted part and join the Military, Navy or Air Force if you don't want Iraq action.

College is probably the smartest thing a person could do with their lives.

Most of the time, if they have the available funds, and are smart enough. I doubt someone would get as far as UD in their college planning if they didn't have what it takes.

There ARE a lot of college people out there who have what they worked for, but not all of them actually have a job in path they chose. Even if that percentage is not very small, theres always that group of people who will have payed for that edgumacation, have worked hard for it, then went into a career that had no part of it. A Military life provides you with training, career, garenteed lifetime job, MANY benefits (that sums up a lot), and it will get you in shape. Then there's the discipline and war if you choose, and so on.

For the people that shoose to go down the military career path... and a lot of military stuff wouldn't be there if not for the guys that went to college... Nukes, weapons, kevlar, tanks, those pretty things that blow up...

I wouldn't say the military is a choice the majority is looking for.

Well, I'm going to college to pursue my intended career and possibly others I haven't considered, so I feel like it's going to be worth it many times over.

That's like asking what came first the chicken or the egg, we all know that answer but yes, back in the day before the Military came along the people who where chose to lead must have obtained their knowledge from some where, like college.
Ok, kids, Uncle SDM is going to cut through all the crap for you.

What is that money used for?
House, food, car, travel, student loans, medical,
Military can pay for all of that. Another thing, you know if you take a nice amount of US currency to most other countries you can live better there then you can here. Imagine all the things you can buy for cheaper as you tour the world, not to mention re-sell.
GOD DAMN IT I SOUND LIKE A RECRUITER! Do NOT ask anything else about the Military! BACK ON TOPIC!
College is nice, a lot of good oportunities. :D

Back in the day the people who lead gained knowledge from tribal elders, from their ancestors, the like... The Revalation of a Social Hierarchy and the Advent of the Organised Military changed that much... Scientists were looking for better ways to fight and the soldiers were putting them into action... Alexander the Great (one of the best tactical minds the world has seen) received a full customary Greek education... his conquests were in a large part do to his want for knowledge...

[UPDATE]
So I'm sitting around in the dorms. I love it, the dorms are like palaces (compared to other colleges). Lots of cool people. My roommate has brought an Xbox with Live capability and a ton of games, so, uh, I'm praying I won't get distracted. Well, I know I'm going to get distracted, so never mind that. Checked my connection speed, and I'm downloading at about 2.5 mbps, a big improvement over my old DSL. Plus I'm close to Exo, which rules :)
Still haven't unpacked completely, but the point is that I'm safe and in good health. Well, being in college, I'm not in safe, and I'm sure I won't be in good health for long...
   and a little :bananasex

Indeed. We've got to meet at Quiznos sometime. It's in the 'village', which is within walking distance of your dorm and my school.

Get this. The course im taking for college (tourism and hospitailty) will require me to drink at school. Im gonna have to learn about wines and shit. Im gonna be one of those snotty people who sticks his nose into wine glasses and sniffs for flavour and shit like that.
Also on the plus side I have to be 19 to take this course. So I get a year off to do nothing!!!!!

go out on thursday night, friday night, saturday night, and use sunday to revive yourself and regrow zapped brain cells.
and never pass up sex.
ever.
the most satisfying feeling in the world is the feeling of a girl sliding her hand beneath your waistline. cuz then it's just smile, cuz it's playtime. :D
and when it comes to studying: do it in groups. why? because you'll actually learn more that way AND you meet more girls that way. :D

And when the professor assigns reading, read. That's usually the only way you'll know what the fuck is going to be on your exams.
Also, never underestimate the value of asskissing. I've had many a B saddled up to an A, this past summer I had an F saddled up to a D :)
Here's my tip to get the asskissing rolling:
Skip a class about two weeks into the course. The night before you do it, send your professor an email that says, "Dear Professor SoAndSo, I am writing to let you know that I will not be in class tomorrow. I have a personal matter to attend to, and just wanted to send you a brief note to tell you that I will be in class on (the next class period), fully prepared with any work I may have missed."
THat'll get the ball rolling, your professor will know your name. Also, ask questions after class about shit you talked about during a lecture. "Professor, I was wondering what the omega represented in this equation for the Earth's vorticity?". Not like it matters, but they'll think you're all interested and shit.
Good luck!
