View Full Version : AMS Deployment/Undeployment Problem

I was playing some PlanetSide today during a HUGE invasion on Extinction. I had just capped a tower and was about to go down to the spawn tubes to respawn to the AMS I had bound to about 200 yds away... So, as soon as I was about to respawn at the AMS, I see in the Message Box, 'One of your manually bound spawn points has become unavailable.' and when I realized that the AMS had been undeployed. (Keep in mind that there we many other places to respawn elsewhere on the island.) So, I end up respawning at the Sanctuary and the island is pop locked!!! What BS is this!!??

I sent an e-mail complaining of this travesty and I would greatly appreciate it if you would do so too.

Maybe it's to prevent people from binding at an AMS, dropping the AMS somewhere, and then having everyone deconstruct to the redeployed AMS.

Another interesting AMS bug I saw the other day, I spanwed at an AMS, was gonna get my gear and head for a long run to a tower, the driver undeploys it and takes off. Now about %90 of the TR population would just shoot at it but I let him go, and noticed he was heading closer to the tower. Fine with me so I followed him. But as he drove closer, people in standard would just appear in his trail. It happened all the way up to the tower, were these people spawning as he drove? only explanation I think.

Binding to an AMS is the bug issue originally talked about. I've stopped binding to my AMSs specifically because of it. If your AMS is destroyed, you will still have an option of spawning where it used to exist. If you choose to spawn there, it will deliver you to the closest spawn point available. If none are available, have fun at sanc. I've never had an issue with it kicking me back to sanc if other spawns were available, but I stopped binding after the first couple of incidents anyhow.

I think I know why this happens.

If you try to spawn at an AMS, and during the spawn period, the AMS is destroyed or in undeployed, the game will attempt to respawn you somewhere else. However, it will ONLY look for towers or other AMS's. If there are no friendly towers or AMS's, it will send you back to sanc.

So that leaves the questions, why doens't it relocate you to bases? I BELIEVE the reasoning for this is because originally spawning at bases took NTU's, so the game doens't want to "waste" NTU's.

I may be wrong...

You make a good point there... but the thing was though, I had deconstructed myself from a tower only 200 yds away... That doesn't seem very far away, does it? The tower was completely clear of enemies, the tubes were fully functional and the tower WAS under NC property.

That's definitely not it. After binding to an AMS at a base which I was positive was destroyed, we were getting chased off a cont. Probably 30 minutes had passed since I was sure my AMS had gone down. I got to the spawn screen, and my AMS spawn point still existed on my screen (on the other side of the cont). I thought maybe somebody else had brought an AMS there and tried to use it, and it kicked me back to sanc. The spawn point wasn't available because it had been destroyed a half hour earlier.

I like the one where the driver tries to get out and is stuck inside the ams.
Then u have to come and shoot at their feet, so they can play!

That's happened to me twice in the past 2 weeks. The last time I was luckily in a hot zone and it got blasted quick. The other time I was in a friendly base and people weren't listening to my /b pleas to kill me. Finally one guy squadded up with me (to avoid grief) and tried to missile spam me with his reaver. I was taking no damage, but the AMS was getting beat to crap and people started shooting at him to chase him away. Finally somebody figured out what was going on and took mercy and boomered me.

ya in my squad i usually run with, the ams drivers have this happen all the time. I usually let em sweat in their ams for a bit.

IF it takes to long to get out just decon your ams. So letting me "sweat" while you play = no ams spawn for joo!
