This morning, I received some terrifically r33t news.
While I was planning PSU:MA, I offered my assistance to my boss, the Advisor and Head Coach of the Flight Team here at Embry Riddle. He was looking for sponsorships and I told him what I knew, from my experience with PSU:MA. We kind of left it at that as I buckled down and finished the planning for my event.
Yesterday at work, I volunteered my services to help the Flight Team with two events. I will be coordinating the fly-by with both the pilots involved and the groups assembled on the ground. As a result of that, I got to meet some higher-ups within the university, and Martyr and I will get to attend a banquet with the family of David Charlebois (the co-pilot killed onboard the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11) and the President of our university.
But that's slightly besides the point.
Today, my boss and I were shooting the shit about sponsors for the Flight Team. I told him that now that PSU:MA is over, I'd be glad to dive in and get some sponsors for the team. He said, "What we were thinking of doing was speaking with the board and adjusting our Constitition to add a 'sponsorship coordinator' position, would you be interested in joining the flight team and filling that position for us?"
R33t!!
So now I'm working on getting sponsors for the Eagles Flight Team, and I get to add "Sponsorship Coordinator for the ERAU Flight Team" to my resume.
I'm thrilled, and just wanted to thank you guys - without you all saying you'd come to PSU:MA, I never would have done it, and if I'd never done it, I wouldn't get this amazing opportunity!!
