Who else is as excited as hell about this? I really hope they go with the second way SJ was saying, with the individual powers and responsabilities within the clan. So appointing someone to be youre LT. means he actually has shit to do, other than yell at the grunts. I really like the implications of this. SO it would appear that a commander of the Clan, could micromanage and do it all him/herself, or jump in the fray with the troops and delagate authourity. Of everything I had heard last night, that seemed the most innovative and awesome.

I'm very excited about this! Its showing more reasons to make an Outfit after all.

I am still curious what he means by abilities though...

Like in Dark Ages of Camelot for example, there were a lot of inner-guild abilities that each rank could, or could not have. Like:

Guild Chat
Guild Chat Listen
Officer Chat
Officer Chat Listen
Wear the Guild Emblem
Promote/Demote
Invite
Remove
Keep Claim
Deposit to Guild Treasury
Withdraw from Guild Treasury

So really, the abilities may not be all that great either. We'll have to wait and see.

Hehe I don't think the system will be anything new, I mean DAoC had 9 ranks which you could edit and call them whatever you wanted. You could have privates and commanders and generals ect and the guild leader could edit the abilitys (previously listed). Remeber that the great thing about this game is it's getting two audiences, the FPS normals and the hardcore MMORPGers, not to mention the occasional few who walk by and see the good reason to pay 12ish dollars a month to play a game like this.

For those who don't really have a concept of MMORPG guilds this system isn't anything new and the EQers and DAoCers and ACers ect might pick up the system really easy and see it just the same, but at the same time the FPS types will be out there racking up the BEPs and base captures, this game is really gonna draw a few crowds and show them what each genre has to offer, it makes me giggle when someone doesn't get how guilds and stuff works, of course then i stop giggling after that same person puts a well aimed bullet between my eyes.:)

It might be nice to be able to deliver a swift kick to the head of a lower ranked person if they arent following orders.... just an amusing thought.

Lol, so random. yeah the command abilities sound pretty awesome, i think nav is talking about command responsibilites in game, rather than in some channel.

edit- err maybe not, just read the title, oh well could be either, clear this up for me someone, i'm obviously lost;)

He's talking about abilities for the ranks within an outfit.

This is one of the more interesting thing's i see in planetside. The command structure is one of the most exciting aspects :D

yeah, sorry about the randomness. im a metals smith by occupation and the blowtorches fumes were gettin to me last night... but yest i agree, the command asspect of the game is gettin very interesting and im drooling over it
