My dog just went missing :(

It's currently nightime and my dog just went outside to do his business and now he's gone. He's fairly large, so he can't go missing in the house, but outside is a better place since my house is undergoing renovations. Unfortunately everyone is getting angry at me now for trying to help and I had nothing to do with it. Just looking for a little sympathy. :(

*UPDATE*

He went into my neighbours garden and sat on the porch, my neighbour thinking he was a stray dog went and walked him to the vet. Now the vet is about a kilometre away so it was a fairly big thing. My dad drove his car searching for him and managed to find our neighbour pretty quickly and bring our dog back home. So nothing too drastic.
