View Full Version : Tropical Storm/Hurricane(?) Gaston.
Well, I'm sitting here in the midst of one of the worst storms I've ever seen, I'm sure it's nothing in comparison to what Trig and martyr went through, but it certainly is impressive. My condo is beachfront, so I'm experiencing this storm's landfall full force, from what I can see, the ocean is ablaze with lightning, and all the beach chairs at the pool have flown south for the winter. The windows here are rattling with the percussive beat of rain hitting them at roughly 65 miles an hour. I'll try'n snap a few pics if anything explodes.
Beachfront? Damn nice.
Anyway, I was just ingame. Electro said it was all lightningy outside his house too.
(it's all good where I live)

that i imagine, would be a pretty cool sight.
Once I get a chance, I'll post some pics of the outer bands of the storm making landfall at sunset. Was incredible.

I get an earthquake once a year. NOTHING else.
Starting to hail a bit as this storm picks up.

You think that's bad? We've only been in a really bad drought for the past 2-3 years.

Droughts can't throw cars at you at 90 MPH.
Or beach chairs, anyone need a seatback? It just landed on my balcony.

we get some cool thunderstroms.. but other than that its pretty quite over here in the sandhills...
This wouldn't be nearly as cool without the lightning illuminating the ocean, I don't think I've ever seen anything as beautiful.

if it stays on this track, we'll be packing up the cat and my tablet and heading out for north carolina, so i can draw in relative safety.
Way to hijack my thread. :P Anyway, hope you guys're safe for that one. Gaston has degraded back to Tropical Storm force and I've decided to ride it out. Damn good view.

Don't worry Infernus, we've already made plans with John's family up in Charlotte, and we have enough advance notice so we can be ready.
We'll be bringing whatever electrical equipment with us that'll fit in my car, we're taking everything off the walls, boarding up our windows, and pushing everything towards the interior wall (the wall that has no windows on it, adjacent to the next apartment). Then we'll get a tarp and secure it over the furniture.
Pray for us.

I talked to my professor's today and told them that I'll be peacing out of Daytona on Thursday and that my absenses had better be excused. Actually I was a lot nicer than that, but they were all cool with it. They're going to be gone as well!
I'm skeeeerred!
