yes it does. It shouldnt be called command rank it should be called commando rank. The current system isnt very good. I like OSs and i like EMPs but come on. Give us some abilitys that actually involve COMMANDING. Come on SOE get with the program

That is some vary good points. he does say whats wrong but he does not say to many good ways to fix the problem.

uhh last time i checked i though continent wide broadcast and global broadcast were command abilities. /shrug

To be perfectly honest, we all know that CR, at the moment, is a little restricted in what it allows people to do. And I'm sure it's something on the devs' agenda.

Brain... thinking.... pain.... OKAY! I got it. How about when a commander (CEP rank) is in a squad those squad members get certain special abilities. Like maybe a CR1 could give his squad mates teh benefit of a really small vehicle timer, something like CR 5 could give something really good. At first I was thinking these abilities would increase accuracy, or RoF or power but, no. This is either a decent idea, or this sugar rush I'm on is fucking me over.

There is TONS of commander stuff in the ask the devs video. Including ideas ala Savage with commanders behind an rts screen. Check it out once its up.

I think that's a great idea Lonehunter, although I believe it could be expanded a bit more.

If I had control over the CR ranks, this is what I would do:

Remember, these bonuses only take effect if you're the leader of a squad.

CR0: Nothing
CR1:
- 4 Waypoints
- Ability to draw on maps
CR2:
- Reveal Friendlies
- Reveal Enemies
- All support activies are made better by 25% for everyone in the squad (Medic's would heal 12 instead of 10, engies would repair vehicles 40 instead of 32, hacking takes 25% more quickly than usual, etc.)
CR3:
- All support activies are made better by 50% for everyone in the squad
- Everyone in the squad gets a health bonus of 5.
- MAX's in the squad get 15% more armor
- Vehicle timers are cut by 30 seconds for everyone in the squad
- Infiltrators in your squad are now invisible while crouching and moving
CR4:
- Everyone in the squad gets a health bonus of 25
- Vehicle timers are cut by 60 seconds for everyone in the squad
- Infiltrators in your squad are now invisible while moving at all
- MAX's get 50% more health
- Ability to designate a base on the continent as the primary target. All of the CR4's/CR5's get to vote which base is primary on defense and offense, as long as they are on that continent. The base with the most votes is highlighted as primary, and the second base is highlighted as secondary.
- Continental broadcast. Can only use continental broadcast to the continent the commander is on
CR5:
- Everyone in the squad gets a health bonus of 50
- Vehicle timers are cut in half
- Infiltrators are now immune to darklight in your squad
- MAX's armor is now doubled
- Votes on primary base are counted as 1.5 votes
- Can now vote on primary continent. Same function as primary base.
- Global Broadcast

Now, here's the kicker. Getting command ranks now requires certification points! CR1 and CR2 together cost 1 cert point, and CR3 and CR4 cost 1 cert point together. You can get either seperately, but the cost is the same. So first, you must "qualify" for the command ranks by leading squads, then you go to a cert point and decide you want to learn it. CR5 by itself costs 1 cert point.

This makes it so that only the people who want to lead will get the CR.

So... what do you guys think?

OMG

I love your ideas. This would promote the better leaders to stay leading, even after they acheive CR 5. I vote heck yeh and post that on the OF for Dev attention is sorely needed. Maybe send to Hayoo as well?

The health/armor/hacking/infil abiltitys wouldnt need balance, but otherwise, good ideas.

i agree with those ideas except the infiltrators being completely invisible. thats way too much. we recently had a discussion about darklight flickering going on too much, that, for one, would become more common. i like the way it is now, as crouch walking is nearly invisible anyways. other than that, the ideas rock. GJ!

I think the completely invisible thing is not to bad, but if some say it needs balance, then make it a radius from the CR5/SL. No idea on range, but not something like 5 meters, maybe like 50 or something. This would allow for some good tactics, but not total abuse.

I still cannot get over what an awesome idea this is. Seriously, CR5's leading squads again instead of the guy who needs Ceps at the moment. Also you could combine this with the CEP decay the devs talked about. Then it would almost seem fair.

sorry chewy but the immune to darklight thing would suck so much ass i cant even express it. I am a cloaker but if that happened EVERYONE would have cloaking. Think that one over.

Sorry, but IM gonna have to "no" on that idea. The main draw, and one of the bigger selling points is a BR20 can lose to a BR1, if they have the same certs, and the BR1 has mroe skill.

However, those HUGE buffs to MAX armor, health, etc, would totally take away from that.

A CR5's squad should be no better equipped than a CR0's squad, if they have the same amount of personnel, with the same certs, in the same loadout.

I can't agree with most of that except the support activities bonus. Especialy on the cert points needed for leading part

I purposefully made the bonuses extremely good, but if you notice none of those are solo abilities like the current CR abilities are.

Also, think about it, since CR5 costs cert points, there would be much fewer CR5's, so these bonuses wouldn't effect that many people. They would only effect 10 people max, and while we're at it, I would make it so that only people in a certain radius of the commander in the commander's squad gets the bonus, to encourage teamwork.

The reason I made the CR ranks cost cert points is so that only people who want to command would actually be CR5's. That's just how I look at it.

I think i person can get CEP to CR1 then have to get voted up and all the abilitys you gain are just for chat chanels and tatical placement insteed of kill whoreing.
