Getting a notebook for school...

Well, as Im sure you dont remember, I had a poll a while back because I wasnt sure which school to go to for 11th grade. Well, eventually I can to choose the boarding school (which happened to win the poll).

One of the reasons I chose that school is my parents said I would be able to get a notebook computer if I went there, because I'd be living there for the better half of the week, plus the school basically requires it. my dad also happens to be getting a new notebook, so weve been shopping around at best buy and CompUSA for the past computer days. We both liked it, but I was looking something with more power.
At Best Buy we found this laptop (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_series.do?series_name=zx5000_series&catLevel=2&category=notebooks/hp_pavilion&storeName=computer_store) with a 9600 mobility, 1024mb of RAM, and a 3.2 ghz P4, its pretty damn fast.

Im gonna end up using the Vaio over the weekend because I cant get the HP one for at least a few days anyway. The Vaio one isnt really mine, my dad really bought it for himself and said I can use it over the weekend and I can keep it if I really like it.

The HP is fast, id go with that no problems with HP just make sure to reformat it the day you get the HP.

its not a question of power, its a question of practicality. the Vaio is the lightest and smallest notebook Ive ever seen. thats basically what I like about it so much. btw just some more obvious specs for you:

Vaio: Intel Centrino 1ghz
-512 mb RAM
-64mb video memory (intel chipset)

HP: P4 3.2 ghz
Radeon 9600 mobility (128 mb)
-1 GB RAM

actually when HP bought out Compaq, they kept the Pesario (sp?) notebook series along with the pavilion, theyre not the same computers.

thats what I would reccomend, it isnt the fastest, more like 2nd or 3rd, but the one in 1st gobbles the living shit out of the power. ibm is the in the middle one thats real good.

The place I work at is like one of maybe 3 HP/Compaq Reseller/Authorized Repair Center in western PA. We will only sell the higher end business class models cause yes, the cheaper than dirt models do suck da moose testies. We hardly ever have any problems with their higher end models. So I would not go as far to say HP/Compaq sucks completely. Every company has there sucky ass models and the good quality models.

recieved computer from cyberpower one week ago,my first from this company.was worried after reading a few of the reviews on this site.the people who complained must not be able to deal with sales and tech support.I FOUND THEY WENT OUT OF THERE WAY TO HELP ME.computer is great at a great price.there where a few cables missing and the graphics card was ati-9600 instead of a ati-9600xt.Mindy in sales and Gret in tech support went out of there way to correct things got the cables 3 day air,graphics card cross shiped so I don't have any down time.found they anserwed the phone right away never put on hold for more than 4 or 5 min.GREAT computer at a price that is hard to belive.I can recomend them highly. THANKS!!! GRET and MINDY.on a scale of 1 to 10 they rate a 12.

And a 6.03 for "Likelihood of Future Purchases" isn't bad.

that doesnt completely trash cyberpower. looks like they have some problems with shipping and whatnot, and 1 guy who got put through to a lousy tech support line. Im more concerned about the quality of the computer itself, not the tech support.

man i wouldn'n want eitehr of those, you waat a combination Nice pentium M with ATI 9600or 9700 graphics (that is the kicker, it needs to have something besides crapy intel graphics) and the pentium M is sweet, low mhz but absolutley kicks even the AMD64 for mhz/performance ratio plus its got great battery life. i with they made a faster clocked destop version, get a donthan if you can there even better.
