I have fallen in love with another ball of fur.
This time, it's of the canine variety.
Everyone on PSU, I need you. I need you to help crack my boyfriend, the dear Martyr, into letting us add this little fella into our family. I am willing to sacrifice my Christmas trip to London for this puppy.
Here he is.
http://www.halifaxhumanesociety.org/HHS/picture_perfect_pooches/IMAG027A.JPG
I am currently taking ideas for logical ways that I can acquire this puppy with the consent of Martyr. I could very well just go to the Humane Society and adopt him, but that isn't very nice.
Please help. Look at that puppy's face!
He must be mine!

Is it a sheltered puppy? if no, then don't get him. rescue a puppy.

Say "Hey Mart, you wanna buy a love puppy?" and he'll be like "oh yeah! umm.. whats a love puppy?" and then you'd be like "Well, its..." and I forget the rest.

He is a sheltered puppy, he's currently in a steel cage at the Halifax Humane Society, where we got Isis.
Martyr is being the crappy father I wish I never had:
Martyr: "we can't get a puppy! No puppy!"
Me: "Can you get him for me for Christmas?"
Martyr: "No!"

Oh it's highly entertaining! We're staying with Martyr's parents up in Charlotte, NC at the moment and they have a 7 or 8 year old boxer called Athena. Isis is terrorizing Athena like you wouldn't believe. She'll sit on the arm of the sofa and swat at Athena's muzzle.
The other night, Athena was laying on the floor looking all dejected. We called her and were leading her to her bed when we found the source of her anguish - Isis was curled up and passed out on Athena's boxer-sized bed, the little brat. She looked like a tiny little shadow on that big old bed!

Perhaps he knocked up one of the local cats before he died and it'll have kittens like in some kind of fucking Disney movie ending and then i'll have a little white cat just like caligula and i'll name it Little Caligula and they'll make Caligula 2 but it'll go straight to video...
anyways.. cats 4 teh win.. but, puppies are quite teh win as well.. i'm actually a dog lover, myself, but, i had to make an acception with Cali.. now i find that cats are just as kick ass, imho.. ;)

Alright after deliberating, we decided that we really can't have a puppy. I don't have the time to train it and we're sleep deprived enough to be woken at 4am by an animal who needs to go out. Maybe when we're married, but not now.
However my crusade does not end.
After watching Isis be thoroughly entertained by another animal for the past two weeks, I thought that I would like to acquire a second cat so that Isis can have someone to play with while John and I are at class/work/flight line. I would like to get the kitten here in Charlotte at their humane society, because it's cheaper and more convenient for us. Plus my sister reports that they have black kitties with blue eyes, omfgcute.
John's being a typical bad father at the moment - "I don't want another cat" "I want new monitors first" "We should get our concealed permit first". I said, "I don't want my concealed permit, I'm never going to carry." He sighed and left the room.
Sigh. Wish me luck.

Tell martyr that I think hes paranoid.
I would support a second cat though...my brothers are really bad with pets, they get them, then never play with them...feed them and thats about it, and I keep saying that they should have pets.
The point being, if there was a second animal, it wouldnt be as bad for them.
However, I think you should choose:
1. New cat now
2. New dog later
Not both.
Buy a new monitor :p
Triggar
2004-09-16, 09:22 PM
He wants a 20" LCD monitor. We won't be able to afford that until after graduation (3+ years from now).
I think the new cat now is the best way to go. We won't be in a lifestyle conducive to training a puppy for quite some time - maybe after the cat's time. Cats are perfect for our life right now. Isis is such a cool animal, and I would hate for her to get sedate and bored because we're not around during the day to play with her.

Ladies and gentleweirdos, the Martyr/Triggar/Isis family has a new member :)
She looks exactly like Isis, only gray, and about 3x smaller. She's adorable. She's had her first bath (that shelter was NASTY) and she's eating her first meal with the family.
Her big sister Isis, when first approached with this new creature, thought the new kitten was a toy, and grabbed the kitty's head and tried to bite her. Real nice, Isis. Real nice!
We need a name for our new addition. We are leaning towards Nephthys, who in Egyption mythology is the sister goddess of Isis. It is pronounced "nef-thys".
We'll get pictures as soon as the rat-sized kitten stops shaking from her first bath!
