Download it right now and run it!!!

http://www.download.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=lavasoft+adaware&tg=dl-2001

The past couple of weeks I have not been able to log onto lavasoft...hmmm fishy. I was getting curious because usually once a month they have updates out.
I go to download.com to see if I can access the site from there. Hey look - adaware se is available and it's FREE! So before I download I run a system scan with adaware 6.0 (kind of a test to see how good the upgrade will be) and I run my weekly spybot search and destroy. Spybot picked up a couple and adaware 6.0 picked up 28 critical items.

I download adaware se and remove 6.0.
I run a full system scan. It takes 12 minutes.
I am shocked.

380 total critical items.
From Processes to Modules to Registry to Files and Folders. Holy Crap.

The process was a BookFile. It was preventing me from accessing sites...especially sites that knew I could kill it.

The internet is a very dirty place.

It's sad that spy ware has gotten to the point where it rivals viruses in the area of system rapage. Remember when spy ware was just to send your info to advertisements? Now their raping your computer and Hi-jacking your browser :( :tear:

I havent had a trace of spyware in ages, Thanks to the Opera/Mozilla/FireFox combo Ive been using for years.

Though occasionally Ill end up with an unwanted cookie and dead registry entries, which ad-aware comes in very handy for.

Adaware calls cookies a threat. I however don't see cookies as threatening. 37 cookies takes about 2 minutes to get on the internet.
