Hey guys , i played this game beta and at release but due to a low end computer and a bad net connection ( and a few balance issues) I quit the game . I was looking to start up again but have a few questions .
1. are the servers still populated ok? and if so which one has the most players/has best player balance (I dont really mind what faction I play as..) .
2. are the majority of the fights still big zergs vs tiny group/undefended fort? that was the main thing that bugged me early in the game as it seemed the best way to level was to just run around capping bases that were lightly/not defended .
3. Are most of the technical issues cleared up? I run a decent system , 3ghz p4 , 1 gig pc400 ram , and a radeon 9600 on a cable connection , I assume that will be enough?.
Anyhow thats it , though if you know of any other big changes that might be important id appreciate those too , thanks in advance .

Markov is the best ballenced server(unless werner is good), Emerald has what is called the 5th empire so if any empire starts to lose stuff they all flood the winning one.
more people defend now, but you still almost always lose
you r FPS should be fine at med settings

Well lasher is good
Beamer (yes!) rocks
Pulsar is great
Lancer is... hard to use... but not too bad
Thresher and Mag :P
Comet shots go faster
Quasar has 120 clip, 60ammo box, 1 ammo per AP
StarFire, awesome as always
Aurora (Deliverer), actually rocks
So asside from some issues with the Lancer, we're stylin ;P

is core combat kinda a "must have" for PS now ?
It will be once the BFRs are released, but with the Planetside Aftershock bundle, you can get it all for $10.

It depends on weather or not you care about piloting/gunning one of these monsters:

i think the lancer is great especialy for long range max sniping, especial against the VS maxes, becasue if they jump at the right time you can't compensate w/ the phoenix, thelancer however is very fast

That doesn't work anymore. The lattice made it so that you can only attack certain bases on a given continent. No ghost hacking like before. Further, the exp you gain for capping a base is now dependent on how many enemies were in the SOI, and how long you were in the SOI. Those two factors are combined to generate an exp gain for capping the base. So you won't get any exp hacking a vacant base, and you'll get very little for taking a lightly defended base.
