Only problem is the game is an RTS, and like all RTS's the infamous "rush" exists and is pretty much the only way to win these days.
Like in DoW, i'll churn out scouts untill i get to about 300 res left and then build a barracks and then a force commander, my scouts will capture nearby res nodes but as soon as the FC is 70% ill launch an assault on the enemy.
I hate winning like this but Space marines arent all that great in late-tech battles.
Thats my opnion of course, feel free to argue, but Land-raiders arent enough bang per buck and costs a whopping 4 vehicle slots to boot.
And don't even get me started on the "terminators", Warren Currell must be turning in his grave...well, he would be if he was dead.
In the 40k Universe, the greatest warriors of the Imperium (Mankind) are the space marines, the elite of the space marines are granted Tactical Dreadnaught Armour aka Terminator Armour.
The armour is so thick and heavy it uses a series of pistons and hydrolyics just to move in them, but the protection and firepower they bring to the table are immense.
In DoW though, this just isnt true.
I would much rather have a fully equiped Tactical squad with x2 HB's and x2 ML's than a terminator squad as the tactical squad is more versatile.

I absolutely despise of ppl who rush in this game (e.g whoring the Points to achieve a victory)
why bother playing if you want to win in 5 mins.
Breed

Depends, some people play to win, and since rushing is an accepted (But despised) tactic, it will be used by peoples who's only enjoyment of the game is seeing their name at the top of the scoreboard.

Yes :)
Pop over to www.relic.com and visit their newbie forums on information on how to do this.
Take note that the banner will be whats displayed on the req point flags and Champion/Sergeant fellas banners.

Are you calling me a newbie?
Breed
2004-09-27, 12:10 PM
lol no, the WH40k has a newbie section.
You will never ever catch me calling somebody a newbie, as the only people who use that term are socially-inept cockbites that i have little/no respect for.
And just to be a hippocrate, i sometimes call my friends newbies in a humerous sarcastic way.

Mmmmm STARCRAFT. The glory in turtling with a million bunkers and siege tanks while I quietly build my Battleship fleet that will smash my enemy to his knees.
As for DoW, I played a bit of the demo, but not enough to get good at it. My little brother will be buying the game, so I'll just steal it from him and install it on my computer when he does. :D Oh and Black, I found my HW2 CD, if you ever feel like playing that. I beat the campaign on Normal and it was easy as hell. I'll still probably have to figure out how to play multiplayer well first though, I don't feel like getting my ass handed to me by a damn Canadian :p

I'd have bought DoW by now, and would be playing it incessantly if they had decided to include Imperial Guard, Tau, Tyranid, Dark Eldar, Necrons, and various space marine chapters. However, they did not, therefore, I am not playing the game, or buying it. But, if an expansion ever comes out with said forces, I would be the first one to pick it up.

Sorry to break this to ya guys, but Dawn of War online is about quick, brutal games. The entire game is centered around being incredibly aggressive, or losing badly. It's been this way since day 1 of closed beta, which some of us participated in. It's kinda refreshing in a way. If you want long games, either play against a friend or learn how to counter properly. 'Rushing' is attacking someone's base within 30 secs to a minute. A 5 minute win is simply an early game victory. Rushing doesn't work in Dawn of War.
TB.

What i hated was how your lil fellows would still collect empty viles of the stuff when the Vespene was depleted :(

IIRC, they still collected but only one unit rather than the full 16 (i think) units.
