I have a funny story for you guys.

In 9th grade, we had a kid from France who moved here 2 years previous. He spoke perfect english, but had a ridiculous frenchy accent. For PE, we had PE Team Sports. The sport of the day was dodgeball. It was him against 5 people because his team sucked. I was on his team and we were all cheering him on but he puts his arms in an X and starts shaking his head. We ask him whats wrong and he says "I give up". I started laughing and asked him if he was surrending and he said "Yes, i am gonna surrender to them, i cant win" or something to that affect. I started laughing hysterically and no one (including him) understood the significance of him surrendering.
