Pulled from the notes from the 2/07/03 Dev Chat:
Environment interaction: If it is important, it is destroyable, but not consoles. Terminals can be destroyed, as well as turrets, etc, except silos and consoles.
I know there's a thread about changing the terrain with trenches and the like, but I'm wondering about the buildings. Can the actual buildings be destroyed?? Like the walls and roofs?? If so, how do you fix them?? What is to keep PS from becoming a giant outdoor battle with consoles in the middle of a field b/c it's all that's left of the base??
And if not, could someone explain the above to me?? Are we to assume that the actual buildings are not considered important??

probably not, but they did say something about things inside being able to be destroyed. terrain, you can't put holes in the ground (i think) but you can make bullet holes probably. the actual building can't be destroyed.

it wouldnt work to be able to destroy the whole building but what if u could destroy it to framework with patches of the walls left like how the redfaction games work.... it could just rebuild itself (it is alien tech).

this could also be an excilent way to get around well guarded entrance ways. maybe even make a weapon strickly for the purpose of blowing holes in walls.

k, now im gettin into wishful thinking. so recap, no, no blown up buildings

I've seen a few rockets land directly into the the building, it scorches it, but no holes.

I am pretty sure the destroyable stuff is basically what you can use can be destroyed, and on that token repaired I would guess by engineers.

I bet he's talking about things like the gens and weapons terminals - stuff you actively use. They'll probably be about 4 or 5 differents states ranging from perfect to damaged to busted. Then the engineers can fix it back up.

He's talking about destroyable as in Tribes 2, where you can destroy things like equipment terminals, radars, and such. They aren't talking about walls and geometry, or at least this is what I get from it all.

^yeah, because in the interview i think they mentioned lights in bases and the ability to blow them up?? SJ kinda made it sound like no, only the stations etc. Like tribes
