I recently learned my father was taking a new job. First, I was disappointed, he worked for IBM, which I always thought was teh cool. No biggie. I can live. Also, this means he will earn more money; meaning I'll possibly be able to re-establish my broadband connection. But then I learned that it would be in Dayton, OH. I live in Cleveland (note to those who aren't familliar with Ohio's geography: It's pretty far away.).
Good news: I don't have to move. Bad news: He will. Now, my father and I were never very close, but still, I feel crushed. I haven't been getting along with my parents for years now (I'm 15), but somehow, I'm devestated. I'll still see him on the weekends, but I'm just not used to not having my dad around. I guess I never realized how used to him I was-I am.
Any comments would be appreciated

Sorry about your father. It's roughly a 4 hour drive to there, right?
Weekends might work.

im 16, my pa, is gone sometimes, for weeks, up to a month before, it sucks, but he does it to support this family, not just me, but my bro and lil sister, and my mom too, just be grateful he is there.

Stay at home and kick Martyr off his ass and make him be the sole bread winner in the family! ;)

No way, nilla. I couldn't breathe if I couldn't fly planes.
Than at least till the kid can go to school. :) That's what my mother did. She started to work again after I started school.

Don't worry, its not so bad. My dad worked in construction ever since I was born. He's changing to insurance sales now, but he used to be gone alot sometimes. We lived in NW Indiana, near Gary. He had a job down in southern indiana, but would come to visit on the weekends, similar deal to what your dad has. Just make the most of your weekends.

Thanks for the support guys. As for Lonehunter, he is working for something called "Standard Register" I think. He'll do consulting for their factories, which is way better than IBM's "Find your own damn work" policy. He's making a huge sacrafice, and I'm grateful for that.

Give him support, talk to him more often. Make sure he 'knows' you.
Be glad that you actually see him, i haven't seen my dad since febuary, and i haven't talked to him since before the hurricane frenzy (he lives in Orlando).

Conjugal visits.
Either that, or he slipped one of the guards a $20 and he took a cup full of his semen and mailed it to his mom who then took a rag and shoved his manjam in her cooter. And bam, Dharkbayne was conceived.

Oh god... a new Black Hawks syndrome...
My dad is in Japan half the year, and sometimes Sao Palo, Brazil. We get along now when I see him. This might be just what your relationship needs. A little distance helps sometimes.
edit: My appologies for bringing this topic back on track.

You're right, my one brother and I fought a lot when we where young as most boys do, but now we are older and that I hardly see him cause he is all ways on tours with musicals / or bands I actually miss him sometimes. :)

I know how hard it can be .. Before I met Hamma ..I was living at home .. Thats 21 year of having my parents around .. It was tough at first ..but in time you will get use to not having him around .. And you will get to see him still .. JUst think of this time as an asjustment for when the time comes to be out on your own ;) Then it wont be a big shock all together :D  It will get better and he's always a phone call away
