Now I have a better computer then my last one (3 Ghz, 1 GB ram, etc against 1.2 Ghz 512 MB ram), I want to try capturing video (what you see on the screen) from planetside and create an outfit movie.

So basically, can anyone help with info, + what is the best FREE video capturing software (link please)

PLEASE no rubbish like "You have to pay for the best software" or "Whats the point", or "I have a better computer than you", etc. Just answer the question please.

Thanks

VCR i think becausew it does not affect your FPS at all Fraps brings your FPS down to like 4 on sny computer so dont use that.

Yeah, but where can you get a copy of that?

You have to buy the recording software, so there's not point.

Also, my computer is better than yours.

Being serious: Fraps is the only recording program that I know of. :google:

dont worry, got it fixed. drops my fps from 50 to 20 though, but that is normal for a free software right?

Fraps will kill your FPS because it's taking up resources to get smooth video. So it's ok unless you plan on fighting. :)

with a system like that youre better off gettin a video cap. card and using the TV-Out on your vid card to connect to a TV+VCR and then use the cap. card to record back to the PC. no lag outside of what you get regularly.

You can buy external video capture devices (which use USB(2)). The problem with S-Video/etc capture is where Fraps requires a quick press of f9, you'd have either leave your TV-Out running all the time (might not be a bad thing) or have fast hands (or preplanned events) :D
