View Full Version : Bah. Formalities = lose.
Well, I got a homecoming thinger McFuck coming up, and I knwo what I want to wear, but, the thing Im at a loss for, is the tie.
Im going in Black Silk dress shirt, Black Slacks, leather shoes, shined to perfection, and all that BS. What I need help on, is tie color, as they are both good choices. One, to keep my monochromatic style of dress, and the other simply because it looks good.

Standard black tie works well.(Edit-Typed b 4 there was a poll,I suggest red tho) I suggest bringing a flask or some thing to keep you awake, coffee in the flask works well too. All they play seems to be really new rap and really old dance crap. And after dancing a few times it gets boring...... unless you find an abandoned classroom in which case if the girl is willing, make some nice uh class memorys lol. But uh gl, I had mine 2 weeks ago, wasn't too bad but wasn't great either. Prom is much better.

I say swap out the black shirt for a white or an ivory top, then wear a black or grey tie.
I'm not too keen on the black shirt with that particular ensemble - it seems too... Vinnie Barbarino to me!

Wear a hawaiian shirt with a dark blue tie that shines.
See, the dress code for said event is "Casual-formal" which means "If you wear a suit, prepare to be mocked"
I figured Id give the black dress shirt a whirl, cause White dress shirts look shitty on me.

Undershirt with no sleeves, food stains, suspenders, and a tie. That'll confuse people for sure. Pants, socks, and shoes as well.

If it's "Casual Formal", don't wear a jacket. Wear a pair of pleated khakis with a belt (and matching shoes) with a light blue or dark blue oxford shirt, white t-shirt underneath. No tie necessary, but a nice yellow tie would look lovely :)

Where a charcoal pinstripe with a red hankerchief in the breast pocket. And carry a violin case. Also if you can, show up in a '50 Merc Custom.

Bah that's pretty much my work dress code. Though I tend to wear a lot of black to work. Sucks to have a full defective laser printer cartridge leak all over you. Well the all black clothes works unless it's a color cartridge that leaks all over you... oh well.

as a professional full-time monochromatic dresser, i voted for white... BUT
i strongly suggest that you look into an (approximately) 50% grey tie with a diagonal white or silver pinstripe.
much better than white in this case.

A nice red and a nice black shirt and you're set.
I have something like that this year too, called semi-formal...fuck a tie.
If you're wearing all black I'd say wear something like this...

Hmm couldn't tell on the site I found that that the whole tie is redish. Looked like red on black at the site. Don't know if that would work then.
