But I would like to emphasize what Ulrick stated. No matter what your system is ...you cannot adjust the settings to max ...not even close. This game is a "heavy-hitter." I mean, picture this, everyone knows how Doom3 was a "beast." Well, Doom3 only every required your computer to render a room at a time with high detail.....now picture this...same type of high quality characters, graphics etc...but on an even larger scale. Your computer must render whole cities and open lands with the same type of detail as Doom3. Not just a room at a time, but an entire building or citiy or dungeon. Just amazing. I have an FX53, 2 gigs of DDR and 6800 Ultra and can't even come close to playing it at full settings. Not possible today. So that should tell you something. Even when I overclock this beast to its max, I still can't play 1600x1200 with highest settings.

If you really want to see the game in all its wonder, you really need a great video card, lots of RAM and a decent cpu.

You can play the game on the lower settings and it still looks very good, don't get me wrong, ....SOE really did a good job with the code, but I am just saying there is so much to it, ...its like Doom3 but on a larger scale requiring even more computer power to load the images......that is...if you want to play it over 800x600 with higher detail.

I just need a DVD drive so I don't have to install 10 fucking CDs or whatever when I buy it.

SOE has said SEVERAL times that putting all settings on top at this moment won't be feasible. This is for the FUTURE of the game, they added so you can up the graphic when the end computer's get better and better. Thus preserving the game's graphic much longer.

You kinda missed the point. A 1.7, ATi 9600, and 512 plays fine and looks beautiful. They just made the engine more future proof than most games.

When I get my new rig I'll get this game. Im getting like a 3.6ghz 4 gig ram, 74 gig hd with 10k rpm(Coulda got more hd space but with only 7200 rpm and I hear the 10k rocks for games, Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb and a load of other good stuff. One of the things I really loved about EQ1 was the social aspect. WoW doesn't seem to have as much of it. I never really made any "friends" during my beta experience, and through my EQ1 experience, it was like an online family. If EQ2 can pull that off, they've got it made.

One of the things that really makes EQ do that, is they pretty much force you to group, which I don't oppose in the least, because what's a MMO if you're almost always alone. In WoW, I had to group... 2 times. And then, I didn't even have to, I was just bored of being alone.
