I have a AMD athlon 2700+ , 1 gig of PC2700 ram, and i recently purchashed a new 128MB Nvidia Geforce 5700 ultra by leadtek, it all works properly; but for some reason i still get lag in some areas, even with low display settings. i have a good cable connection. I have talked with other ppl who have very similar systems to mine, and they get great FPS with high display settings, yet i still get low FPS with low display settings. What is wrong? please replay

Do you have the latest video card and chipset drivers, have you disc defragmented recently, do you have any anti-virus software running in the background, have you run a check for spyware and viruses, have you shut down any non-essential processes before running PS, and have you used msconfig to remove everything you don't need from the system startup?

If all of those are "yes" then try some of the tweaks here: http://psforums.station.sony.com/ps/board/message?board.id=pstechsupport&message.id=5936

If nothing else works post your DxDiag as indicated here, and maybe your problem will make its self apparent: http://psforums.station.sony.com/ps/board/message?board.id=pstechsupport&message.id=11

I have all of that, except i do have norton anti virus professional 2004; which is always on auto run. The rest of what you said is fine.

What kind of hard drive you got?

The 5700 is never gonna handle large battles very well. And random spikes of lag now and then are just life in an mmo.

Might wanna try some bench's on your system to see how the performance really is.

what do you mean by benches?, and i have a 80 GB hard drive that came with my Emachines W2785 computer. I purchased the 5700 due to its fast clock and memory speeds, i was told it would do very well with PlanetSide.

Can try Sisoft Sandra for overall system performance comparions.

Done a defrag lately?

Make sure AA\AF are turned off in your video card settings.

Also try fraps to get a real idea what your fps are.

Anti Aliasing and Antriscopic Filtering are under your display properties > settings > advanced > 3d tab. Prolly just want default settings.

Sisoft you can google for and d/l a copy to bench your system to try and find the bottleneck.

i looked where you said the AA/AF would be, but they werent there. With my Nvidia card, it has its own little settings so i dont know what to say.

Just dig through the nvidia settings. You have up to date forceware drivers?

May want to try a site like nvnews forums or somewhere for video tweaks for your card to.
