Why does everyone want to be a pilot?

First of all, if you don't want to be a pilot, or don't think everyone wants to be a pilot, than please dont reply.

Seemingly everyone (including myself) wants to be a pilot. Why? I want to be a pilot because I am good at flyin' in other games. I also like being able to move faster and not have to wory about obsticles. I also like being harder to hit. How 'bout you?

I was going to become a pilot but decided to become a MAX instead due to the fact there are so many people wanting to fly.

Even though I love to fly in games I also enjoyed being in Heavy armor like in T2. Plus I like the idea of attacking bases inside and out.

I enjoy the sens of resonsability that comes with an expensive piece of hardware. Not forgetting a 12men infantry unit with light armored sitting in the back. Also the fun of yelling 'We're in the pipe! Five by Five!' and 'Hang on, we're in for some chop!' in the mic when using voice-over-net programs :)

I'm a whore for sims (cars, planes). For planes, i specialise in bombing and interception/defence. I mostly play IL2 and am waiting for IL2:Forgotten battles and LockOn. 2 flight sims that will kick ass.

So that's why i love flying. I love the sens of realism and possibilities that comes with those. And i believe i'm good at it to boot.

Im more of a "Tactical" guy. I like sneaking into bases, hacking, etc...

I will be a hacker, stealthy, sniper, recon, light support, and vehicle transport type role. That's whats appealing to me, and sometimes i might take a skeeter or galaxy up for the helluvit

they'll probably change their minds. When trying to get to piloting the highest vehicles, which i think is a galaxy, people will probably change their minds and when hey decide they cant pilot is well or just dont like it they'll probably move onto a different vehicles, because there are so many different kinds of vehicles, and we do needs tanks as well as AEROs, and i mean we'll probably need a lot of AEROs, which is good. but when Pilots have no outfits or a bunch of people to transport they'll get bored waiting around and decide to either just fly in and shoot or grab a different vehicle.

I'm gonna be an anti air max just to get all the free BEP until everyone figures out that flying out that you need skill to fly and then the week pilots become grunts. Then I go infantry:D

I don't think there will be any real Dog Fight wars in PS. It would rule if they were able to get that level of Flight Sim built into the game but from the footage so far it does not look like it will be. So I will concentrait on where most of the fighting will be, the ground. Where vehicles look to move very nice and fast and do some considerable damage to ground targets.

pilotings great for the shear glory factor. a squad of aircraft can quickly swoop in and change the tide of battle and every pilot can always turn himself into a bomb and kamakazi key sites when the going gets tough. a charging tanks velocity can be stoped but u cant stop gravity

I would fly a mosquito... AND there is nothing else you either have the mosquito or the galaxy to fly :P

well so far, I dont see any reason to ever use the mosquito over the reaver.... I mean a bit slower is well worth a much more powerful craft. The galaxy will be very fun to be, but I think that I will be a reaver most of the time =) The super Anti Galaxy =)

Where are all the people representing the tanks here? I think the tanks will be pretty fun but im basically going to try to balence mobility and firepower and Be and infantry with a buggy or quad. Not stealth though ill be the guy running up behind a slealth and just autoshottyin his head off... :D then again i havent chosen an empire so who knows

If you know how to use them, the air vehicles will be awesome.
For recon, or just nailing off enemy units, it'll be worthwhile.

One thing I wouldn't do... Is pilot a Galaxy... Being a Galaxy pilot instantly makes you everyone's bitch. :(

If I fly anything into combat it'll be a reaver...and even then I'll most likely be too addicted to knifing people with a stealth suit. Getting a knife kill in a game based on shooting has to be the most satisfying thing ever...man, anyone remember the first time they busted melee out in a game? Hehe.

I will mainly be a Reaver pilot. If my outfit/squad/platoon needs it, I will have Skeeter/Galaxy training on hand. I don't really wanna pilot a Galaxy very much. Not fun having to rely on cruddy gunners to save your hide. Also, I don't think having two MAXes mad at you for crashing is a good idea either. I don't like the Skeeter because getting hit by a Repeater would kill it. Also, it couldn't kill a Infil suit in under 20 seconds. Reaver is perfect. Firepower/speed/armor and it's 1 man. :D

for my outfit/squad/platoon uplink i will also b flying a reaver. the reaver is so agile that its gonna take great ground skill to hit if u dont get hit by a reaver first. as for air to air combat, they are only a little slower than a skeeter but they sting a lot worse.

as for flying a galaxy, they are slow a bullet magnet and so unmanuverable i have no idea why any 1 would want to fly one. the only good thing about em is their guns but they take so many ppl to use its pointless

i think for the galaxy theres not going to be anyone flying it around for the "fun" of it. it surves a purpose that is very important to any air based outfit. it carries troops. any compitent tatctician would know that if u use a galaxy ull need to have an escort. along with the guns on the actual galaxy and 3 or 4 reavers surrounding it, the galaxy could be very effective at doing what its made to do... move people from point a to b.

Yep, the guns on the galaxy are for covering the guys getting off in the 1st few secs of a drop, not for defending the galaxy =)

vgy.. for me, this game is going to be fun because of the teamwork involved. I'm sure you could just jump in a reaver, fly around and shoot some people, but to me, that will get boring fast. People are going to need galaxy pilots to transport them, and those pilots are going to be an integral part of the game. Im not here to play lonewolf style, the teamwork factor is what is going to make PS great IMO.

I'm not saying that when i pilot, i'll be flying galaxy 24/7 though. Playing one role constantly in a FPS is mind numbing to me.
