Is anybody actualy for the BFR's, I know I am..

Start the flaming!!!

and I would like to THANK the DEVS for their hard work, some of us appriciate it..

and yet another thing, People are whining about BFR's now, but they used to whine about the NC MBTS, the easiest and uber fast way to kill a BFR is to drop Lib bombs on it

I need to get someone to make a huge sig with like 20 "anti's" on it then a big question mark on top of the bfr.

i love the BFRs

Me too dude. Its the only thing i am good at (except Gal pilot), + I'm not a killing whore, i take pride in my bfr, only attack where i have the advantage, and i never run when the sheild is gone and i'm about to die, i run when i dont have the advantage, i still have 1/2 of my sheild left when i run.

THANK the DEVS

YES, the best thing they have done (except made Planetside)

When nearly everyone has adv bfr, the killing should decreace, and bfr's will only come out for a mass attack or for defence. ITS A NEW TOY, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT, PEOPLE WILL USE IT ALL THE TIME FOR NOW.

The devs did do a nice job creating and introducing them, I just wish they had poured all that effort into something other than stupid killer robots.

Its worse than flailwhores inflated 50:1 k/d ratios and makes for really boring outdoor combat. "Hey why get an ams, tank, aircraft, or actually go on foot when I can sit inside a cy and wait for the base to drain?"

Like stupid killer tanks? That's what the alternative would have been. Personally I hope they add some kind of super-heavy tank, 40k style, but whatever. Point is, it's about the gameplay mechanics they were trying to achieve that people should be concerned with, not the model and skin they're attached to.

Let's see how it goes after Tuesday's patch.

I remember when people were "quitting" en mass when theLiberator was released. I also remember that when every single player in PLanetside had the Liberator cert, it did indeed suck. After the new wore off it was back to normal and now Liberators are a powerfull nusance and altogether too uncommon. The same will be true for BFRs

Oh and I want to also add that If you still want to foot zerg everyplace, you still can. In fact not only are the caves vastly superrior battlegrounds for foot zergs in the first place, now you have a guarenteed location to foot zerg when you feel like it.

I personally love to foot zerg. It is why I have 2 characters. One support/infil/hack and another a kill whore. Now I can log on each night and pick my battles

I think that's what makes the cave battles interesting, it's infantry vs infantry for the most part. :)

With the advent of BFR's and BEP+CEP for hacks, the caves have really picked up in action. I remember going in there...and I would make the 100% pop for TR. I always knew when an enemy entered. Pop would go VS: 0% NC:50% TR: 50% or VS:33% NC:33% TR:33%. And quite often I would get a tell from them "hey, I'm just in here to goof off with the ATV, hack and take all you want"

Much love for the BFR's....even when I decided that I don't want to cert in them just yet.

I imagine someone named Mag-Mower would love the vehicular side of Planetside :lol

It seems to me that the Vehicle players love them and the foot zerg players hate them

It's a coll addition, I just wish that they put all the time into something that would be a little more balanced, that everyone could benefit from.

Im Anti-BFR cause im a foot soilder and cant get out of a base without getting killed by a BFR. I know the DEV's will balance them out but id rather see some new infantry weapons than vehicles.

The problem with that logic being that people ceased using Liberators as much because they realized that they were very specialized toys. BFRs are not specialized toys. The majority of Planetside population will cert whatever allows them to run up their kill count in the safest manner possible. The fact that they are allowed to cert BFR, be safer than in anything else and have the ability to AA/AI/AV all in one toy? Good luck getting people out of them until the nerf stick hits hard.

I'll be in the caverns for a loooooong time.

Seems like the devs want to infantry to stay in the caves so in the future they can make the bases BFR size and give them a rek cause right now they are not leaving there BFR for nothing. Gets really boring 3-4 BFR camping 1 door.

My character is an all infantry with the BFR cert and whatever comes with it, and I still love the BFR's

another thing I always here about infantry being utterly useless, but for the last couple days I thought that the BFR acquisition time was like 24 hours, so I ran around on foot with nothing but a sniper rifle, a newbhammer, and two medkits. I took down at least 20 shields (for once I'm not dramatizing) and had my fellow squadmates that were or were not using BFR's kill them..

I assed raped those BFR's, they took a giant bolt up the shield gen...

Point being, we have to adapt, society adapted when gunpowder was first used, then it adapted when we all stood in a line and shot at each other, and again we adapted when tanks were shootin bombs at us and planes were droppign bombs on us...

I think the DEVs will eventually add a counter to the BFR's that we would of never thought of, but jeeze, why do yall have to ruin my gaming experience by whining over the Global and Broadcast channels?

I thought maybe one or two mechs for each side during a zerg was what we were going to have. Now it's 50 mechs on each side rendering everything a No Man's Land. The things are simply unkillable and destroy infantry.

And the devs cant edit out their mistake too severely because they need them to sell the damn game with Aftershock and all.

I am not resubscribing when my subscription runs out in a few days.

Unless they fix the problem, they just lost a customer.

Sing to the tune of "Video killed the radio star":

And now we meet in an abandoned game
We hear the gunfire and it seems so long ago
And you remember the fighting used to own.
Oh-a oh

You were the best game.
Oh-a oh

You are the worst game.

To be honest, when marketing comes into play SOE doesn't care if it loses a customer if it can get two back. It's all about money. Their using BFRs as a way to make the game look more appealing to possible new buyers. So sorry Aztec but your song is going to be drowned out by $$.

Yeh, I don't really think all that effort should have gone into massive killing machines, it should have gone to new weapons and buildings, etc.
i have to admit I enjoy sitting in my Aphelion killing 65 people before I die, sure its fun with a few BFRs on each empire in a battle, but as AztecWarrior said there are about 50 as far as the eye can see...

Also it would be total uber-hackz0r-pwnage if a new empire would be introduced within a few years time :D

Lartnev

it should have gone to new weapons

It brought me back after 10 months hiatus. I like the BFR's, they have created some epic battles.

If the DEV's made the timer for the BFR's like 24 hours would that change anything?

Also, maybe the Vanu just need to start showing up with some big ass cruisers and start blowing the hell out all three empires..!!! :D And then, All the empires launch a secret starship thingy and from now and untill they can find a home the BFR's would be useless, cause you sure ass hell cant walk around in a spaceship/mothership with that thing

J/k Thats way to ambitious for the PlanetSide team

Here is what I don't understand about people who hate BFRs and are bitching and moaning and threatening to quit, why don't they just go to the caves? Cavern fights FUCKING OWN these days, almost all infanry weapons have there place, firefights are decided by skill and tactics instead of caffine intake, it's anything a dedicated grunt could possibly wish for. Alot of these anti-BFR people are running around proclaiming the death of the infantryman but they don't even seem to realize that they also managed to create an infantrymans paradise. So yeah, the surface isn't all that welcoming to the lone HA/Agile anymore, not like you have to spend more then ten seconds on it to get to the caves anyway.

Well now that I think about it, hes right, but still I was alwyas for BFR's. Infantry tactics are getting more refined now.

ITS A NEW TOY DUDE, JUST WAIT There's a difference between a new toy and a BFR. The BFR is *the* defining killing machine of PlanetSide and it has taken all the fun out of the game, like hunting ducks with a flak cannon: it's easy as shit, but it's no fun anymore.

2004-11-06, 10:22 AM
Well damn, I wondered why going hunting wasn't fun anymore...
