Question about names:

This may have been answered and I did not read it but here it is: Sience there is no communication possiable bettween the empires, you can not send tells to memembers of those other empires, so could there be a Tobias in the Vanu empire and a Tobias in the TR and NC as well? And for that matter is there a limit to how many people can have the same name per server/empire, i.e could we have 50 people on the same server/empire named Jesus, or only one per server or empire? Just a question I have.

Part speculation, but....

Since they have a private messaging system in game, it is most likely done by name, therefore there is most likely only one person per empire with a name.

The only other game to compare this question to is DAoC, and with their coding there can only be one person between the three realms with the same name.

my opinion on it. they probably will have one name/one person. even if you are in a different empire, you cannot have the name a a single person. empires won't matter. like I said, one name/one person.

Yeah, I always assumed that names would have to be unique because of private messaging and such, and if they're not...then you could always spell your name in 1337 5p34k if someone takes yours.

I think that in the FAQ (I'm not to sure if it's there or somewhere else) that you are able to find out who killed you last. If there were several Tobiases, then you might kill the wrong one. I'm not too sure if this is still going to happen, b/c I read this feature a long time ago.

I'm guessing 1 name per server. So yes, you could have TR Tobias, NC Tobias and VS Tobias, just on different servers.

I'm with Nohimn. It would be unreasonable for more than one person to have a name. I believe that SOE is planning on having an extensive stat tracking system, so more than one person named Tobias on a server may create issues with stats.\

Unless of course stats were recorded by CD-key and not by name.

It's probably a server thing, with only one character per name per server, things would get complicated if it had to store 3 characters of each name per server...

there most likely will be one name per server. Like in DaOC my guild leader wanted the name leviathan and we found out the name was taken by a troll Beserker for midgard and we were albion.

Maybe I'll make sure to get the game before all of you and steal all your names before you can play that way hamma would have to be like Humma and tobias would need to be tobius and navaron would have to be navuron. I'm so devious and evil:evil: :evil: :evil:

I hope they have it where if you don't play for like a month your name is deleted... but then that would cause character problems...

The only annoying thing about DAoC is when I'm walkin around and I see Legolas, then later i see Legolass, then Leggolas, then Legoles. Man... if its taken already give up, I cant even COUNT the amount of Raistlins I see.

I would be Flameseeker or Flame-seeker or F|ameseeker. Pretty easy to modify a name. In some games, | and l are exactly the same. I will probably also be Searo, which is a cool name I made up with one of those name generators.
