View Full Version : Could someone help me?
Yes, I know this isn't supposed to be here, but no one ever answers in tech-forums...
Anyways, one of my friends has just bought PS, but he has a problem...
He said that after about 5 mins of playing, the game and the computer both freeze,he has to restart the computer...
Anyone know what could help?
Thanx :D

If it happens over and over then it's prolly graphix, like a video card. Does his vid card meet the requirements? Does he have some "1337" drivers? I'm not 100% sure what I'm talking about so this might not help.
he said that he has already updated the drivers, its a 9800 pro,so it should meet the requirements

How much RAM does he have? You should have at least 1GB for PS to run well.
i think its 1 or sumtin...but you dont need 1 gb i have ~700 mb and it works...but i also get these error reports so i kinda cant play :p
sorry, i got some of the specs wrong earlier, he has an ati 9600 (possibly pro) and has updated the catalyst to the ati 4.10. and yeah, he told me he does have 1 gig of ram, and the rest of teh hardware sounds like ti either meets the requirements or exceeds them. the only part i was worried about is the 9600 that in my experience isnt the top most uber graphics card for the game...but meh...i was thinking mabe its his cooling knowing teh probs i had with my radeon 9800pro with the stock cooling:D

I was having trouble with random freezes and lockups a couple months ago. The devs put a workaround for it in one of the patches (2.9.8).
If you have experienced issues with freezing, please open the file engine3d_options.ini in your PlanetSide Test directory and set use_managed_vbs to true.
Note that it says your Test directory. Ignore that. It'll be in your base PS directory. Changing that helped me. :)
Aiight, thnx alot blackhawk, ill tell him to do that and see if it fixes the issue...i dnno if hes advanced enuff to find C: and open it tho....:D but then its prolly his fault the game doesnt work. thnx anyways:)
