Advertisements sometimes slow things down. I wouldn't worry about it :)

Is it actually slowing the page or is the ad just loading slow?

They hopefully wont be slowing the page load, they load in a separate frame to try and let them load at their own pace while the rest of the forums load quickly. If they are still slowing the pages, mmhell will have to look into their ad server.
I personally havent seen any slow forums. They have been quite quick for me.

I'm behind a firewall at work and I'm using FireFox 0.9.2 (I know newer versions are out). Thankfully, PSU doesn't get blocked here! The problem only occurs when I'm replying to a thread. All of the page will load minus the ad, and the Message: area won't be type-able for about 20-30 seconds. The advertisement never finishes loading - probably gets blocked. I's wierd.

Are you using the wysiwyg post editor? Try using the standard editor. This should help with the type-able problem, though the ad will still load at the same rate.

The ads are somtimes pretty slow.
It's not even our adserver, it's mostly gamershell.com ..but if we'd get hits like they do, hell, our current server would glow up and disappear into a parallel universe.
However, as everyone else said - the ads are in an iframe, and hence will not do anything to the loading speed of the site anymore. We did the same everywhere else, because it was pissing me off as much as you..
(Yea, I'm slow, I check forums rarely..)
